UML Offseason 2015: It's not rebuilding anymore

Re: UML Offseason 2015: It's not rebuilding anymore

Hadn't realized that if Lowell and NU play against each other in Belfast, it will count as a league game.

If the games count I don't see how it can be an "if they meet" scenario. The match up has to be predetermined otherwise the league schedule could be imbalanced if they don't end up meeting.

Also, this part is interesting, "The games will be held on November 29 and 30 at the Odyssey Arena, and the tournament marks the first time NCAA hockey has been played outside of North America. It'll be a weekend full of hockey, as the Giants will also be playing their own schedule of league games at the Odyssey."

I was hoping the games would be either Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday. Playing on the 30th means you'll need to take two days off from work if you want to see the Monday game. You'll need to fly home on Tuesday I would imagine unless the Monday game is early enough in the day.

Also, it sounds like the Giants will also be playing. I'm sensing a single admission hockey triple header each day with empty stands during the NCAA games. I was considering making this trip, but I'd definitely like to know more specifics before I decide.

According to this CHN article Brown is giving up what was supposed to a home game against Lowell next season to play Lowell in Belfast instead. This leads me to believe this will be one of those tournaments where both matchups are predetermined similar to the Dartmouth Tournament & Catamount Cup.

Based on all of the information that's now out my guess is it will be Brown vs. Colgate/Lowell vs. Northeastern one night and Lowell vs.Brown/Northeastern vs. Colgate the other.

To be honest, I wondered if we were going to play 3 games over there.

The Herald is the only one that says our games are on the 29th and 30th. All of the others say the 27th and 28th so I'm waiting to see how that pans out. A few of us are talking about going for a week, spending a few days in Dublin and a few days in Belfast. Just waiting for the schedule to solidify before we make plans.

I just have a hard time telling my parents that I'd miss out on thanksgiving... and I'd have a hard time telling myself that as well :p

I'm slated to go to France for a week in 2016... Euro16+day trip(s) Germany/Belgium. I also want to do a big weekend trip to Charlottesville VA and the 10 or so breweries in the area this fall. You know, I'd love to fantasize more... but I don't like that choice of weekend.

The official release from the University says November 27-28: http://goriverhawks.com/news/2015/4/10/MICE_0410152300.aspx

To be fair, the kid is pretty brilliant a lot of the time. Even the ENG, he barely even looked up, knew exactly where he was and nailed it. Ice positioning, awareness, speed ... kid is a phenom.

Glad to see an all Hockey East Final. PC's been recruiting really well, and they're not afraid to get the early commits. If they win this thing, they could get even more scary recruiting wise.
He is brilliant but waxing poetic while you show a clip of him standing still by the boards is not how you show that. Why not show a clip of him whizzing by someone? He did that enough it wouldn't be hard to find.

composure and professionalism... if they want to fanboi they can't wait until they get off the air.

Re: UML Offseason 2015: It's not rebuilding anymore

I can live with that result. In fact I'll sleep quite comfortably.
I might not sleep I am so happy! We know the trainer for PC. Great guy. He must be out of his mind now.

Anyone else catch the guy announcing the winning team as the PC Terriers?

I just keep thinking the world gets harder... I suppose I'd be more at ease if our recruiting picked up.

Guys, I'm not looking to rehash... I would just feel more comfortable because its going to continue to be a monkey knife fight in hockey east.

After that assist in the first, he was pretty invisible all night. PC did a good job keeping him in check and when he got that slashing penalty later in the game, he was none too happy. Don't know if they showed it on ESPN but when he went into the box, he was pretty vocal and had a little tantrum, hitting the glass with his stick and so on, like he couldn't believe they actually called a penalty on him.

Besides PC winning, highlight of the game was O'Connor's gaffe, dropping the puck into the next for PC's tying goal. We were all stunned like "did that just happen?" and it took a moment or two to realize PC had just tied it in a very fluky way.

Re: UML Offseason 2015: It's not rebuilding anymore

I know the allegiance is strong, but they didn't talk to anyone about PC throughout the game as it was a 60 minute informercial for BU hockey

Read a bit of the BU thread last night (I may be stupid but I didn't chime in)- there were people in there saying that Barry Melrose was a PC homer. I just shook my head.

Also comments about how the goalie sucked for the yr. Didn't watch him past when he was playing us but I thought he was the reason they won the Hockey Rast CHampionchip. He made some scary saves on Friday night and again on Saturday. I really feel bad for him...and his parents. Makes a mistake and its all his fault.

I loved the announcers making commentary about how he was a marked man and things would be called on him more. Those guys are bozos.

Can we say it is a new world in hockey east? BC, Lowell, BU and Providence?

Maine and UNH are way off now...

Last night I felt the earth come to a full stop. There might be ice in Hell.....

I'll believe that when their recruiting starts to tank... until then UNH and Maine are threats if they can get their act together.

edit: of course, that would be fun

Re: UML Offseason 2015: It's not rebuilding anymore

As always, Lowell is one of the best places in the East to see a game...can't wait for more PC/Lowell wars
