UML 2019/2020: Underclassmen Reign

Yay Helly!

and in other news at least 2 schools in the conference are in the news tonight- not in a good way. OOPS

You're giving me false hope... I had to search through every school in Google News... I'm assuming MC and PC? Bound to happen eventually if you're having students on campus

I was hoping for something with a bit more juice to it.

I wonder what will happen now the Mack and ProVicid are both on the news with multiple issues on their campuses

ECAC is planning a 20 game schedule, league games only. Of course, they've set up two divisions, so you play teams in your division 4 times, the others not at all. But leagues are trying to find a way.

I don't know... a big part of me says if you're going to do it at all may as well play the whole league... you're not really going to cut down on hotel visits in the ECAC except for most of the travel pairs. I say that, maybe, I haven't thought it through too much but you aren't going to go out to north country or colgate/cornell then drive right back each night. I think we should expect some front loading of scheduling expecting that you'll need to backfill later.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with vaccine prioritization if and when we get there. I think I'll get in front of the gen public but not by much per my employment... but honestly, I'd put college students higher on the priority list to get some of those organizations back together... so hospitals, then colleges and prisons, then... ?

It isn't the hotels or travel. It is trying to keep the pool of people on the ice smaller. Already one team has had very significant issues. If you have them all play each other then you have a lot of cross contamination.

No vaccine is going to be available for general distribution* until well into the Spring. If things go as the Med journals I am following are figuring, then you won't see anywhere close to enough distribution until at least next Fall. I think they are not sure it will be a one dose- have seen some things saying it will need a boost. (I know I should post a link but I get about 15 dif updates a day and each one has something that is updated, changed or with a qualifier- none of it is ready for prime time, only released to keep people updated on progress) Not soon enough to rescue any sports that are not already keeping people apart by their nature.

*They are meeting to begin to discuss in mid Oct but they will not begin to set the priorities until something is actually approved and the latest thing I saw was not to expect anything of substance until at least January. The consensus is first to the Healthcare workers. Then it would be between populations with highest risk from demographics vs employment. Unless you are doing something that is 'essential' I haven't seen anything that would put any Govt workers on the top of the list. I haven't seen them on any list. This will be one of those things they use as a case study in Medical Ethics for years to come.

Right, but its the same number of people on the ice regardless of how many teams play. Now, if you want to cut down the number of people on the same ice on the same weekend that'd be a different story. It still doesn't answer why they would form "divisional" structure because that's more of additional weeks at a time. But I can see why one would then say that you'll play same opponents Fri-Sat.

As for access, I'm still lightly betting the fed gov will have access slightly ahead of the rest but not by much. Having a work place with a nurse's office (who already gives flu shots and provided H1N1) makes a difference.

It is the pool of people, not the number. Some of the states are not going to allow interstate travel. It is where people are coming from, not the number.
Good luck with the fed gov thing. It doesn't mean a thing to have a nurse on site. You are not a priority unless you are someone directly in healthcare or in a high risk group. There would be no medical reason why non-essential govt employees would jump the line. This happens in none of the models currently being floated. It is healthcare workers followed by a split between elderly, high risk patients and essential workers such as those who work in direct contact with the public like Grocery stores, food places. Places of business that do not are not in the service sector are way down the list, no matter where they are. If they ever did that there would be a Public Health mutiny.

BU and the state of NH are taking a pause.
