UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

No..not silly. But I only went to the third game. Did this happen Friday and Saturday, and if so (and he was aggravated), one would think he would have simply gone over and discussed it. If not, it's sort of on him, don't you think?

No idea. It is possible they did talk to each other. or not. I just know it happens every time both bands are in a building.

Not all that surprising to me...

Master signs with Maine Mariners (ECHL).

Dmowski signs with Hartford (AHL).

That is huge and kind of a surprise right? Although maybe when they signed Huska it meant Wall could stay? I just figured the Rangers would rather sign Wall and Huska if they were giving one spot away.

From what I know, education was very important to his family, so that might be a part of the reason. And yes, with the UConn netminder already signing, might make sense for Wall to stick it out.

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

Glad to see Wall is coming back for his Senior year. He's a Mechanical Engineering major so I assume getting his degree is quite important to him. I figured once the Rangers signed the UConn goalie that Wall would definitely be back at UML for his Senior year. The Rangers have several young goaltenders in either the AHL (Huska & Halverson), KHL (Igor Shesterkin) or Sweden Super Elite (Olof Lindbom). If Wall left UML I assume he would have ended up at their ECHL affiliate in Portland, Maine for the balance of this season.
Maine Mariners just signed Nick Master.

I must be the lone dissenter. He aggravates me. Lazy play. Actually not really. The people sitting around me had the same opinion. What was his +/- for the playoff series

I hope they all come back, but I don't think Mattias going pro would be as big of a loss as Ryan or Tyler. I'm glad to see Tyler is coming back.

One factor that may play into a decision to leave is age. Mattias just turned 24 while Ryan will turn 23 in June.

If he does leave, that would just leave Evingson and Baxter as upper-class defensemen. Procopio, Blackmun, McDonald, List, Sawchuk and Barton will be sophomores. So that leaves us with 8 d-men (some with little experience).

Incoming freshman Schulting would be the only addition to that list.

I just noticed that while we have 17 commits currently, only 2 (including Schulting) are defensemen. I know we have 6 that will be sophomores next year, but still seems strange.

Re: UML 2018/2019 Season: Back to Bazin Basics

I forgot about Evingson. He doesn't get much playing time. Does anyone know if he had an injury? I would consider him a transfer risk.

16 games played and none after the Providence blowout according to the HE stats. If Mattias comes back I honestly don't see a spot for him.
