UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

I for one am excited about the game at Fenway and have been looking forward to this for a long time. Not to get sappy, but Fenway has always been a special place for me (even though I cant fit in it) and I lived in Boston & Brookline next to Fenway for 10 years right after finishing school at UML.

I never miss a home game and certainly like the comforts and sightlines of the Tsongas, etc, but come on.... take this commercial, farce, force fed money maker for what it is and enjoy it.

I am sitting up in the pavilion so I should have a great view anyway. Plus, I am really excited that my first trip back to Fenway (after being there for a game 6 World Series win) is a Lowell hockey game.

I am bringing 4 friends (who are non hockey fans) and meeting many others (former players, friends) before the game for a beer, and then going in to watch something pretty cool (and hopefully 2 points).

Pretty cool non farce event to me & dont be too cool to enjoy it.

Couldn't agree more with this post.

I am still not understanding why so many Lowell fans are anti-fenway? Can someone explain this to me?

To stop with the Fenway time talk ... thoughts on who starts (if Connor is even healthy)? I'd figure with how Carr is playing, they might give him the start, especially with him being a local kid. Would be a cool thing for him, obviously.

I would assume Carr. They won't take a chance with Hele's knee on the bad outdoor ice.

I like to watch hockey. Most of these outside games are in places that are not meant to host hockey. The sight lines are awful, the ice is shaky (risk for injury) and it all seems horribly contrived. Mr les went to one of the first NHL games outside and was glad to say he had been there but thought as a hockey watching experience it was a waste of time. They moved a few times and couldn't really see the game. For those who want to 'experience' the outside thing - I hope they enjoy it, good for them.

For me I have no desire to 'brave the elements', spend a lot of money for the game and to park to probably have a lousy view of what is happening on the ice. I would rather have a birdseye view from the comfort of my couch. After watching for about 30 yrs I don't feel compelled to go to games like I used to. I still go to every home game but I don't travel to rinks where they are unfriendly to visitors, that I have to pay more to park than it costs for a tank of gas. Either I am just getting old or maybe a bit more sane than I used to be.

Lowell just tweeted out that the party starts at the Cask at 10, so they must be opening up a bit early.

Due to the schedule change, I have an extra ticket. Anyone interested? State Street Pavilion.

FYI... if your tickets say Pavilion 'Club', you will have access to the EMC Club for eats, drinks, TV's. Have fun.

Just a quick question but looking back on this years promotional calendar on the team website it appears I missed one of the "Team Trading Card" giveaways. anyone know what sets of 4 have been given out so far?

The first one has a Hutton card, the second has a Roloson card. I missed the 3rd one. :( I have an extra of the 2nd set if someone is willing to trade.

It's a knee. Tweaked it against canisus

I heard he hurt his knee too despite the upper body reports that are out there. I doubt it's serious though. I'm almost certain I saw him walking around in a suit near section 113 at the Tsongas last weekend and he didn't appear to be limping. There was a group of kids in suits with Bauer hats on holding print outs of a rink with them in that area before the game. Maybe it was redshirt freshmen taking notes during the game?

Anyways Doug is playing pretty good, so Connor can take all the time he needs to get healthy as far as I'm concerned.

I still don't understand why they haven't postponed the games until Sunday yet. The steady rain will likely be into Boston near or shortly after noontime. The odds that the BU/Maine game can be played are about as close to zero as possible. The odds they'll be able to get a complete game in for Lowell/Northeastern are significantly less than 50/50. My only thought is that they're going to do what the Sox have done (and been roasted for) in the past: Open the gates, sell concessions for 1-2 hours, then postpone the game due to rain. If that is what they end up doing, it's simple the Red Sox trying to make some quick money while Hockey East gets the blame for not postponing earlier.
