UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

I saw McGrath walking out of the Lawler Rink with his arm still in a sling. From what little I've heard, the d-men are closer to returning than the forwards.

CHN has an article on Lowell's injuries.

No timetables for return in the article unfortunately. For what its worth, some folks in the stands where I sat during the PC game at home believed Wilson was done for the season and McGrath would be back for the playoffs. I hope for Wilson that's not the case. The article above mentions Wilson is not expected to return anytime soon though.

Also, speaking of CHN, I wonder if their Pairwise formula is wrong? USCHO has Lowell at #7 and the guy that writes the Bracketology blog listed them 7 as well. Supposedly he's always right? I know there are other threads on this topic. I just haven't followed them closely.

there's disagreement on how exactly to calculate the new RPIs.

I've heard rumors that McGrath and possibly Suter could be back this weekend.

Either you are talking about the wrong limb or the wrong guy :p

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Wisconsin beat minnesota 2-1 so Bc is #1 in PWR and Lowell is 7th.

When is this game starting? 7:30 and still waiting.

It was a 7:30 start, which means 7:37.

Listening to the game right now with a 2-2 score, and Bob isn't thrilled with the calls tonight.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Tie game.

Lowell takes 3 out of 4 points against BU on the year. And they move into second tonight, with UMass shutting out Northeastern on the road tonight. Next ... we get to play at UMass.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

If there was the slightest, tiniest, miraculest bit of hope... it's over. BC has won the HE regular season title.

And then comes the fun.

As of tonight:
Lowell: 14 games played-18 points.
NU: 15-17
UNH: 15-16
PC: 14-15
Maine 12-14

So 6 teams averaging over a point a game. Now the fun part. Northeastern owns the tiebreaker over Lowell, but UNH owns the tiebreaker over Northeastern, but Lowell owns the tiebreaker over UNH ...

This is the interesting part when you only have 20 league games. This will be an interesting end of the season. And you really want to finish in the top 4, so you can skip the first round.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Made the trip to Agganis tonight. BU played WAY better than they did in Lowell. Great to see McGrath and Suter back in the line up.

You forgot to include Maine's result. Here's the corrected chart:

Lowell: 14 games played-18 points.
NU: 15-17
Maine 13-16
UNH: 15-16
PC: 14-15

BC mathematically clinched a 1st round bye tonight. They can finish no lower than 3rd. Maine and Lowell are the only teams that can still catch them.

Suter played half a dozen shifts at most, and he was only out there for 1 shift in the 3rd period. Thompson was listed as a forward on the line chart, but started the game taking a regular shift on defense and did that the entire game. It'll be interesting to see how much ice time he gets tomorrow on the big ice out in Amherst.

Did you see Suter after warm-ups? I'm pretty Thompson was playing Defense all night, and we were again down a forward.

time to forget about BC (save the games against them) and work on home ice... sucks not to repeat, but like any year, squeeze out what you can. We've been very fortunate, not trying to downtalk, but I think there's enough pressure here to get the first round bye and to get home ice (those are separate... 5th place with a trip to Orono, as an example).

Going to be frantic down to the end. Hopefully the team can get healed up and they'll appreciate the work to be done. Last year won't repeat itself, new adventure, should be an interesting homestretch.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Injuries or not, Lowell needs to do itself a huge favor and win tomorrow. Being up 3 points on NU (with them holding the tie breaker) is going to be critical. The best we can realistically hope for from the BC series is a split, and if they're still running 11 forwards and a patch-work defense then even that would be a miracle.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Need to take the Alumni Cup tonight and collect a trophy for the year, going to pull out the ULowell sweatshirt for this trip.
On the bye week issue I think the other thing to keep in mind is that everyone else in the hunt has finished with BC, not to mention the series losses to NU and Maine.
So..... the next two are huge and I hope to see the return of the hungry freshman of January tonight.
