UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

I am holding my breath. Can't believe after years and years of waiting in 'the game' 2 yrs in a row without people saying we don't belong there. Even if Onion Man is assuring us it is a fluke I am happy.... :D

reading the articles today- never knew our stats were so good. ONe article quoting Folin as saying he will graduate. On line or here? that is the question. :D

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

From today's Lowell Sun on Folin -

Pro hockey insider Bob McKenzie tweeted this week that UML sophomore defenseman Christian Folin is the top unsigned free agent in college hockey. Folin scored the game's first goal when his shot, which was headed wide, deflected in off the skate of ND defenseman Kevin Lind. The pride of Gothenberg, Sweden later added an assist.

"It's obviously fun to hear," Folin said of McKenzie's report, "but it doesn't mean anything. I love being at UMass Lowell and I plan to graduate."

So you can read two things into this - he is staying and not going anywhere after the season or he'll leave and continue his studies and graduate down the road at some point. I hope it's the former.

Not an insider here... but he is off to the NHL after this year. I can only guess his goal as a youngster was to play professional hockey. Well, if the reports are correct, then his stock will never be higher than it is right now. He is saying the right things about "planning" to graduate (that is the key word). Of course he is planning to graduate - right now, right this second. But everyone knows that plans change and evolve. And things will definitely change once the season is over and the offers are on the table. In addition, by saying he plans to graduate also increases his demand a little bit and will help make any NHL offers a bit more serious. It will be sad to see him go, but he has done well for us and I wish him the best.

Congrats on the win last night. Should be a good one tonight.

BTW, that UML grad who did the National Anthem was awsome and gorgeous. Didn't catch her name but apparently shes is a country singer. What's her name?

He can take classes on line and summer classes.... I think he is too far in to transfer all his classes some where else.

most schools will take away credits for some reason or another. If he stays, great... but at some point a responsible coach will tell his player that the best way to advance his career is to move on. The question becomes, is it better for him and his game to stay at Lowell. I'll leave that to the proper hockey people.

i agree... somebody should tell him that even if he's serious that responding that way seems more like a string along and we're having none of it.

I am not in the know but your body is young only so long. Plenty of time afterward to go to school. He is probably planning to graduate. There are a number of people who have graduated while moving on. No one needs to tell him anything. He can say what he wants. What he said is least likely to provide distraction before the next few weeks.

How sweet is it to know that it doesn't matter what happens tonight - we still play next weekend.

It is nice know that we will be playing next week. Making the tournament three in row after not making it since '96 is unbelievable.

Anyone notice Sacred Heart is tied for #55 and Colby College is last in Div III East.
