UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part III

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part III

If today's game goes to OT, I have an advantage...I already have a defibrillator implanted in my chest.....;)

Thanks for the rep and the kind words.

Go Garnet!

Keith.
Here's hoping your defib isn't needed in a few weeks! Good luck along the way!

Link to the highlights if they haven't been posted. Great view of Scott Wilson hit with the charge and the boarding. Why that wasn't 5 minutes I will never get it. Also the off sides goal that someone said they cleared the zone before it went in. I don't think so. He was still sliding toward the blue line when they finished the clip of the goal. Not that it matters. Union won for a reason and it wasn't officiating.

From a fan of the "other" team in the Merrimack Valley, congrats on a fantastic season.:)

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part III

I know I'm a little late, but I just wanted to congratulate UML on an incredible season. I met a number of UML fans in Bridgeport over the weekend and they couldn't have been more classy. Also, I was really impressed with the atmosphere at the regional and I think both fan-bases can give each other pats on the back for that. Your fans brought out the best in us and that's why I was hoping for a UML-Union final. Hopefully we will meet again in the coming seasons.

However, if I'm going to complain about anything, it would be about one of the fans in the front row with the signs. It said, "3>1. It's simple math." I get it -- The 3 seed is greater than the 1 seed, fair enough. Having said that, he was holding it up when Union was up 3-1 and I thought his timing was pretty poor. Other than that, great game, great fans, and good luck in the future!

Yeah, they may need a bit of work... we're new to having this "large student section" thing.

Congrats to the team on a fantastic ride throughout the entire year!!! Just so proud of the program and school.

As for the weekend, CONGRATS to Union and hoping for very good results when my wife and I are down in Tampa for the F4.

Last bit - MAJOR kudos to:

1) The school administration for all the work this year and, of course, for organizing both gatherings at Barnum and Tiago. Both places (especially Tiago) were packed. Organizing that stuff isn't easy.

2) The alumni for showing up in force and making noise. For all of us it was a long time coming.

3) The band - now that is what it should sound like. :) Great job

4) Last but certainly not least, the students - not that they are reading this but they brought it all year and seeing how many students made the trek down was impressive. Nice Shovel - classic. Keep up the entertainment.
All of this is perfect. Every single part.
-The band is unbelievable. They are incredible musicians and hysterically funny. We sit too far away to see some of the antics at the Tsongas Tsenter and that makes me sad.
For the first time in a long time, I was next to the band again. I loved it. They always sound amazing, but wow, they're just a blast to sit next to.

I'm just so proud of this program for their recovery from last year, in regards to the on-ice work, the off-ice work, the support by the fans (students and alums).

It was a wonderful season. Just an amazing season.

Is it October yet?

Well said Monty.

The effort in the 3rd period last night summed up the entire season. They could have laid down but they came out fighting and gave everything they had. No shame in losing to Union as they are the real deal. Big, strong and play excellent defense.

Expectations will be high next season, rightfully so, and I think the team will embrace the pressure.

Who is starting the off season thread?

Thanks. Honestly on the sign thing? Bet he held it up throughout the game, regardless of score. *shrugs*

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part III

I'm just going to say it again because I think it's worth saying again.

From the top (MARTY! MARTY!) on down, the difference in the administration in the last several years is just completely amazing.

Thanks for the work the last couple weekends, as well as the entire 2011-12 season. I know this STH really noticed.

Hopefully they get a well-deserved week or two to regroup, tidy up all the stuff that got put aside to get our stint in CT accomplished and then plan out next year's stuff. I'd really like to see a drive to increase our STH base by 10-30%.

It's possible. I just happened to look over when it was 3-1 and I found his timing to be poor. No big deal though. As I said before, your fans are great and I will you be pulling for you guys (and Providence) in HE next season.

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part III

I second everything that has been said about the amazing season, the great student section (hope they can start to fill even more sections at Tsongas) and everything else about this run.

But part of me really wants to know..... Anyone want to guess what Blaise is thinking these days? :-D

Probably something along the lines of "Those were my guys"

A really great season top to bottom. With only four seniors leaving, this team certainly has what it takes to play just about anyone. These guys have alot of character and will given how last year went and they certainly showed it these past 2 games (not to mention the 3rd period against union where they didnt back down).

My only comment was the student holding the "3>1" sign was the same guy who chanted "EASY-AC" during the 1st period when we were losing, had to stop him right away :(

Above all, congrats to the students, alumni, Marty for the vision, and most of all the team led by Norm Bazin. Definitely worthy for Spencer Penrose Award.

Can finally retire this easy button, dont know how it managed to get through this year without casuality :D

Great article from the Connecticut Post -

Words cannot describe how great and unexpected this season was. To go from 5 wins to one of the top seasons in UML DI history is unbelievable. Kudos to everyone involved from the players and coaches to the administration to the fans to the band. It was a complete package this season. While we lost to Union and fell one game short of the Frozen Four, how many of us really thought before the season we would ever be able to say that? You have to look at the body of work for the season and realize it was one long joyful ride and while the season ended Saturday night, no one should hang their head.

Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part III

At the first game of the season, I had told some seat-mates that I'd be happy if this team made it to the final eight. Only difference was, I was talking about Hockey East.....
