Re: UML 2011-2012 Thread: Part II

HE schools I said. name your players/schools.
Already gave you two. Arnold had committed to Maine, switched to Lowell, there's another. Saying no HE team was recruiting any of the players that Blaise got is just an asinine statement. I'm done arguing this.

that was ugly. sitting by the BU fans (who were loud but surprisingly less than the number that I expected). They had enough to cheer about but for goodness sake someone needs to come up with something more creative than sux and the same 3 cheers. I wish we had the some of the creative cheers in our league that the EZAC has. They are way more fun to listen to. Our league sounds like a bunch of neanderthals. Seems like saying sux substitutes for creativity.

And Gumby better make an appearance. That was the second time she was missing and the 2nd loss. Someone needs to straighten her out!

Too many mistakes and penalties tonight by the Hawks. BU made the Hawks pay for just about every one. A nice win for the Terriers. Boy, can they pass the puck on the PP.

I give the Hawks credit they never stopped working. Hopefully they can bounce back tomorrow night.

You sure you weren't misinterpreting them for the yahoo's sitting to their right yelling "where's your Beanpot?" and "BC rejects!" (really?) all night? Or perhaps the drunk UML students who ran own the stairs in the 3rd and started calling all of them f-ing homos, and other similar homophobic terms beginning with f with many six year old kids sitting right next to them, to the point that the BU fans apologized and said they weren't with them? Other than that, I saw no lack of creativity out of any of them. That was the most Amherst-ified crowd I've ever seen at Lowell.

I didn't say our fans were any better. I said the whole league is boring and they are. BU loses to BC and we hear the where's your Beanpot every time. BU does some stupid thing about BC~ who cares about BC and last I checked BC has the silly little pot. The chant that says sux after what ever the first team chants- duh they all do that. BU always pulls out the if can't get into college go to State (Ironic considering grad rates of the various teams and the huge debt that doesn't guarantee you squat when you leave). The most creative fans are the NU fans. They make me laugh but even they have been tame lately.

Right on the money. AND that has been going on all year. Accuse me of being a wuss but let's face it folks, as great as the number of students showing up now is, they need to class it up. The BS chant after EVERY Lowell penalty is embarrassing. But why stoop to what Amherst does? I know it's the mob mentality and people say/do things because everyone around them is doing it but the students who have been there from Day 1 and suffered through the last few years need to step up and get the followers in check.

I'm all about having fun but just ask a simple question "What would an Amherst fan do?" And do the opposite.

But they aren't reading these posts so c'est la vie.

As for the game, BU capitalized on EVERY major mistake Lowell made. Impressive when a team can do that but I love how Lowell kept battling. As rough of a game as it was last night - let's keep things in perspective. This has been a heck of a ride.

Tonight - Lowell 4 - BU 2 :)

For the first 5:53 of last night's game, 6706 (which I have to give credit to the Lowell community is an above-seated capacity sellout) had a good feeling. The problem was that goal by the River Hawks served as BU's wakeup call and for the remaining 54:07 of the hockey game, it was a defensive and offensive (in some ways) tragedy.

Put simply, the defense for the first time all year, looked like true underclassmen by becoming unglued and not playing this game to the intense BU pressure. BU goes 3/5 on the power play and has two clean and possibly by extension, three breakaways are simply inexcusable. The back breaker was not scoring on a 5x3 only to have Lyles get schooled, beat by Clendenning out of the box who ices the game away, then Lyles commits a bad penalty the goal is not smart. He and Eiserman need to sit tonight as they are not ready for this fast-pace hockey.

If you would have told me that Lowell would outshoot BU 42-29 in front of a sellout crowd, I would have that we would have won the game. Millan and the BU defense is lucky that shot total wasn't 50 if the River Hawks could have not lifted so many pucks over the net. Sure, not converting on the 5x3 was probably the biggest disappointment of the game, but they did pump in four goals and the offense didn't quit.

It's gut-check time for the River Hawks. As I mentioned previously, the reason that they always get screwed is that can't beat BU and Maine when it matters. Yes, it's been a heck of a ride, but without a win tonight, it's going to be a fight next week for home ice, especially if Maine and Merrimack win tonight. That's why I said last night's game was the must-win. Hate to say it, but after last's night performance, I would give the River Hawks little, if any chance of winning tonight being at BU and on NESN. BU rolls 5-2 and I hope it's that close. We've seen this movie before with BU.

I'm not going to get into it with the BU vs. Lowell students. You're talking apples to oranges when it comes to hockey history and support. Sure, I would like the Lowell students to clean it up and not be like Amherst, but that's what your going to get at Lowell during sellouts when the town comes out to watch.

The question, in my mind anyway, is "Is Sinitsyn even close to being ready"? Because if he is ere's zero reasons to keep giving Lyles ice time. Two straight weeks he's been absolutely AWFUL. If the kid is ready, play him. You're not getting 4 years from him anyway, use him while you can.

Also I'd like to point out that the ONE time the students SHOULD have chanted bull****, when Megan deliberately charged after Arnold and tried to injure him with the knee and Lowell ends up on the PK, they didn't. So many students, so little knowledge about the game. BTW Megan is a punk and it's too bad he didn't get a cross check to the throat after that OBVIOUS, bush leave attempt to injure.

Stop it... and stop it now.

We did some great things we did some very stupid things. Defense needs a gut check and we need to play tighter than we did last night... maybe a little too sure that the game plan is going to work... wrong time to go on auto-pilot.

That being said... ahem...

<blink>THE WORLD IS NOT FALLING APART!</blink>

We've had a great ride so far... and I know there are a few of us here who are waiting for the bottom to drop out. Stop it, and stop it now. There is no reason we can't win tonight... NONE. This game could have just as easily been 4-1 UML with BU on their heels. There were deficiencies last night... those get worked on. Bottom line we're in this and we're not going down the road of some ill-fated tragic script.

At least its not my script... oh shucks we lost again stuff will get us nowhere. It is not the time to concede. Two points tonight.

Tony, I can not agree more with both of your comments on Lyles. Which in and of itself is somewhat of a sad note, because I was hoping Lyles would have been a key, mature contributor to the defensive lineup. The kid tries very hard, perhaps too hard, I will give him that. Yes, while he did score his first collegiate goal on a laser past Millan, it took far too long for this to happen and have been overshadowed by his lack of discipline in taking bad penalties.

On Sinitsyn, I agree, I've been wondering if he's ready long before the BU series. Coach must have a reason for not playing him regardless on the length of service the young man will have in a Lowell uniform.
