Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

so let me get this straight, you think lowell will be worse than last year?

also, you seem to have made some sort of crazy error, picking lowell to lose AT vermont?

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

Also any season where we lose to BOTH UAH and Holy Cross is a failed season. I'd like to be wrong but I can't imagine I would be. If we're as good as we're supposed to be then 2-1-0 would be unlikely. 1-2-0 would just be straight-out bad.

edit: isn't that 15-5-7 (37 pts)?

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

so let me get this straight/QUOTE]

I'll allow it. No, Lowell's 20 wins last yr included the HEA tourney, my prediction doesn't include postseason. Also, compare 30 HEA pts last yr with 36 this year.

Also, I counted it 3 times and got a different number, so these are rough estimates...:p

No one who picks things conventionally ever turns out right, in every season there are surprises. Sometimes they play down to lousy teams, you never know what could happen in games(goalies could unexpectedly stand on their head, posts rung)....things happen.

If things happened as they should we would've finished 7th last yr thanks to PollThink (in this case the 08-09 coaches poll).

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

BU - 1-1-1
BC - 2-1-0
UNH 1-1-1

UMass - 2-0-1
UVM - 2-1-0
Maine - 2-1-0
NU - 2-1-0
PC - 3-0-0

If Lowell wants to win HE, they really can't blow any points to the teams that are expected to be at the bottom. Unfortunately, my feeling is they'll do so a couple of times.

My totals put me at 17-6-4, 38pts and 2nd in Hockey East.

Nonconference:
St. Lawrence -- W
Army/UNO -- Have a bad feeling Lowell loses to UNO
Colgate -- W
Huntsville -- two wins
Princeton -- win and a tie
Holy Cross -- win
Dartmouth/NU -- Win

So in total if my math is right, 24-7-5 overall.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread

A little about our opponent from Sunday. Acadia comes into the game 1-2 in their regular season. They will be playing at UNH Saturday night. The Axemen have given up 16 goals in three regular season games already.

Not sure if it's the same one, but they have a Doug Clarkson who's playing for them. Lowell had a commit from a Doug Clarkson for the '07 recruiting class.

Monty, It looks like it's the same Doug Clarkson. Instead of heading to Lowell, he spent a year in the OHL before returning to the OJHL last season where he had a big year for Vaughan.

From the Vaughan site:
Doug Clarkson - After putting together one of the best individual season for point totals in Viper history he attended an NHL rookie camp in the Summer of 2009. Doug has recently signed up to play Canadian University Hockey with perenial CIS powerhouse ACADIA UNIVERSITY for the 2009-10 season.

Wow. That's pretty wild. This would seem to be the year to have a season like that though. Good luck.

Monty- were you at the Pheonix Landing for the US-Mexico game? I thought I saw you out front...

I was there ... and was joyous ... for a bit.
