UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Alrighty then. Didn't see that coming!

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

By the way, Hutton was mentioning during that interview that they expected to be "skated" on Monday. What is that? Is it like suicides in other sports?

It can be. We used to call this kind of practice a "bag skate,' because you'll need a bag to puke in. Sometimes they are real serious bag skates, where there are no pucks and you don't even wear equipment. Those are bad. Other times it will just be an incredibly up tempo skate (between drills, sprints, and maybe some scrimmage) that leaves everyone with their stick on their knees.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

never enough goals...

but beyond that the utter domination of Merrimack continues. :D

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

I have to leave in the middle of the 2nd tom'w. Right about the time we will implode....

Please team, prove me wrong!

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Geez guys... we won last night, even I'm not that much of a pessimist. *kicks the tires on the thread*

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

The sense of surety (that they would pull stuff off) that I had at the end of last yr and the beginning of this, is gone. After a really stinky week at work I wanted a no thought game. (the world does revolve around me, right)

I am actually glad I have to leave in the middle tomorrow because I won't have the angst at the end of the game except by update.

Speaking of which if anyone can keep me posted for the end of the 2nd and teh third it would be appreciated. Haverhill rink does not get reception

Scott- if they score early delivery as usual. If not, will need other arrangements.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

There's just so much frustration with this team right now. What should have been (and up to the point was) an easy win then all of a sudden just falls apart, and Lowell has to hold on to win.

One thing I liked, less penalties. Another thing, finally some offense. Falite's second goal was a sniper's shot. And Worthington's goal was just a beautiful set up, tic-tac-toe.

The defense was disappointing in the third. It almost seemed like the team had already started thinking about BC. I mentioned to Gary even before the Warriors made it 5-3 that Lowell seemed to have just shut it off when it was 5-1. It seemed they never had an possession whatsoever in the third.

A much tougher and ****ed off opponent comes to town tonight.

Voting is open for the Players of the Game ... so please vote!

The goal P-Dubbs scored last night was right out of last year's playbook. They ran that backdoor play to perfection (see Schaus GW against BC).

That's the thing that killed me... hadn't they learned that already this year?

There's nothing wrong with an 8-1 game... I can understand wanting to not go the extra mile for injury reasons but I don't get why you let up... we've seen games go down hill just because of that... the big teams don't have any problem about going out there and getting "one more" at least in terms of philosophy.... doesn't mean it'll happen but they're going to press for it.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Hope to see a big and rowdy crowd tonight. Also if anyone on here likes having a few beers during the games but can't wait until you get upstairs beginning tonight they will be selling beer downstairs in the lobby.

They worked for 40 minutes last night and shut it off for the final 20 minutes....nothing has really changed with this team that has had a bad habit of doing years for the past many years. Credit Merrimack for not throwing in the towel and forcing Lowell against the wall. Lowell does this against BC and it's another choked game.

Positives: They put two PP goals of their own and scored five. That was much need last night where goals have scarce.

Negative: Same old story with a big lead...they try to sit on it and can't close escrow.

Considering that the River Hawks love the "big game", it will be another one goal game, tonight. In fact, yesterday I was joking with my co-worker that Lowell will be up 3-1 on BC in the third, BC will tie it, then win it in OT. With the Lowell alums at my workplace, the choking of leads is a running joke.

I normally don't mention players by name but you have to feel sorry for Ryan Blair...this kid hasn't been able to catch a break this season and it's pretty sad after the solid sophomore campaign he had last season.

Bob Ellis had his best "Mike Lange" quote on Worthington's goal..."he picked the spot where Mom keeps the cookies" I'm sure that will be played at the banquet.

If they want to win, the defense has to play their best game of the year, and I'll make the argument that they haven't done that yet. I'm hoping for a crowd of 5000-5500 tonight in the "Tsongas Center", where the River Hawks are undefeated :D ;) :p

I don't know about the rest of you but I think I can last the 5 minutes from exiting the Beer Works to getting into the arena proper... like most of this season, wish I were there. Lets take this game tonight.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

I was waiting to see how long it would take before you started posted your drivel again.
