Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Calamity. I'm a lifelong Michigan fan; my first two visits to Minnesota were for Michigan hockey (2002 FF and the subsequent Showcase at Mariucci). I got my heart ripped out in Buffalo. I paid good money to watch the hockey team on fuzzy cable feeds in meaningless regular season road games when I lived in California.

And then I moved to Duluth. The first hockey I saw in person was the brilliant OT win over NoDak last fall. All of my friends here are UMD sympathizers or fans. They are my "WCHA" team.

Alas, one of them is going to have to lose Saturday. And I dare say people aren't going to like the sweatshirts I wear around town very much.

May the best team win. I'll probably see some of you fellow Northlanders on the way down to the cities; pleasant jibes are welcome. The good news is that if "my" team loses it will be to a team who I not only don't begrudge a title, but would like to see succeed. The bad news? I live in the one place in the world that will provide constant reminders if Michigan loses.

And if they win half my wardrobe gets mothballed. Alas, the joys of hockey! UMD is a team that deserves success. I'm thrilled that they've made it this far--but couldn't they wait another year?

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Thanks everyone for the support!

We should have that in the game as well!

How can this thread be on page 4????? You guys are one of only two teams still playing!

Anyway, good luck in the championship. I'm pulling for you guys to get that first national title.
This thread isn't really used. We use www.umdpenaltybox.com

If people give you crap you just point out the nine titles you already have. root for the underdogs, you know you want to.

They're all a bunch of isolationist who would all rather play pattycake over there on their own little sandbox than to come over here where they might actually have their opinions challenged, refuted, and outright openly mocked because it might hurt their little feelings.

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Union fan here thinking UMD is making us look not so bad, though it's tough to play the comparison game. Your special teams are on another level. Good luck tomorrow.

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

As a Miami fan I think I'm obligated to pull for the team seeking its first title, go Bulldogs!

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Go Dawgs! They've come close before. Let's take that final step this time!

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Uh, as a UNO fan, a fan of a team that just moved from the CCHA to the WCHA, and given what happened to us in the St Louis regional, is there any question who I am rooting for? Our AD sold everyone here on the idea of, besides the logisitical thing, that we were moving to a better conference. After one season, that was/is clearly so, at least, to me it is. It would sure be nice to see the 4th place team in our conference win the title. Really, even though none of them did/are (that's why they play the games), any one of the top 3 could have been there, too.

Go, Bulldogs. I think you'll match up well with them having seen UNO play the two FF finalists a total of 5 times this year. UNO fan hates Michigan and did even before the turn of events in St Louis.

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Congrats to the Dogs and their fans. I'm calling it UMD 4 - 2 tomorrow night, so don't let me down. :D

...given what happened to us in the St Louis regional...

Uh, you lost...

UNO fan hates Michigan and did even before the turn of events in St Louis.

That is true, there is in fact only one "Husker-reject" fan in the world. He has multiple personalities though... He's still bitter about Jed Ortmeyer decideing to go to Michigan instead of uno...

Good luck UMD. I have nothing against you and I look forward to a good game on Saturday.

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

Go Dogs! Very excited that the first Men's National Title game that I will attend includes my 1a!

Re: Umd bulldogs 2010-2011

I just want to re-iterate my support for the UMD team and fans. As the Bulldog fans I've met, this comes as no surprise. I took my beating on the Sumo floor, enjoyed my time there a year ago and truly wish the Bulldogs well. I shall don my UMD sweater in the morning, and watch the game with my mom, who was born in Duluth. Go Bulldogs!!!!
