This weekend.. is extremely HUGE for UMD's post season plans.. sweep a terrible Mankato team and lose a spot in the Pairwise.. sweep St. Cloud at Amsoil next week and could lose a spot or two as bad as St. Cloud is this year.. MUST sweep Ohio State this weekend also. They could maybe make up a spot or two via the WCHA tournament if they win at Ridder but that's 4 weeks away. The remaining schedule seems to give UMD 3rd over North Dakota (I'm expecting Minnesota to hold 2nd,) and set up UMD/Ohio State in a first round playoff matchup.

They've started to get some momentum now and I don't think it's too late. If Haley's not clear of her head injury it would be a loss but that team can win without her even though we'd love to have her on the ice. If they can grab on to the chemistry they've had in the past four games and keep riding it, I think all will be well. Congrats to Wisconsin are in order for claiming the Conference Title with no question, what-so-ever.

She won't be traveling to Ohio State this weekend, but the Dogs certainly do have some mojo working in their favor the past several weeks. They just have to build on it for four more games and then it's playoff time. That's when they're always dangerous.

Allow me to rephrase. How long has Gray been wearing the "C"? She was an alternate captain (as is Haley) and now she's wearing the "C" instead of the "A."

With a goal and three assists in today's 5-1 win at Ohio State, Jocelyne Larocque becomes the first UMD defenseman to hit the 100-point mark for her career. Good for her! :D

My understanding is that those leadership roles are interchangable between the three co-captains, C or A, throughout the year. It's more of a team effort and not a status for this particular team.

For those non season-ticket holders (season ticket holders got letters regarding the following this week).. UMD's opening up the Bulldog Club for women's hockey next year.. for a $250 (80% deductible) donation to the scholarship fund (not part of regular ticket fee) you can drink at UMD women's hockey games in the club. It takes a $300 donation through the men's hockey program, and no word if one donation works both ways but assuming not.

Way to go 'Dogs . . . important sweep of OSU! I love the way the team is responding right now. I know they've been playing teams they "should" beat but earlier in the season they weren't beating them. Now, they are. It's great to see this team pulling together at the right time of year . . . huge congrats to Larocque too for the big 100 point accomplishment. She's one of the best players to watch in the entire league.

Now, take care of business against SCSU and then we'll see how the chips fall.

Exciting time of year!!

Also- be sure to tell all your friends about the $1 Admission ($3 on game day) for the games this weekend! Try to bring some non-regulars and fill that place-- and maybe suck a couple more people into the awesome community that is UMD Women's Hockey!

The ticket price is ONLY for Saturday.. $1.00 if bought on campus.. $3.00 at the door/DECC

I mentioned last weekend as a MUST WIN... but this weekend is as important if not more.. UMD can't have a let-down on Senior night like they did against OSU last year.. losing to St. Cloud State could lead to post-season tournament problems.

Well said!!! And, let's top off Joce's WCHA defender of the week award with a sweep . . . and more points for her D scoring record!! It would be great for them to go into the tournament with all the momentum they can muster. Also, I'm sure Santa will be breaking the record this weekend and adding to it over the next few!

Really hoping for a good hockey weekend after sitting out the UMD men's games last week with a bad cold, that started the Saturday with Bemidji.. getting back to normal this week .. getting out and about and shooting and would really like to see two fun wins. They've played some real stinkers on the final regular season home game over the years so really want to see that not happen, besides the ramifications of what could happen if it does happen this year.

I see the preview for the SCSU series on the UMD page now . . . no mention of #12's status for the weekend. Anyone hear anything?? I think this week makes it 4 since she's played . . It would be great to see her on the ice again!

Here's to hoping we see a very, very large crowd on Saturday Night!!

Lots of mention OF her in the preview too.. almost like there's no question she's playing.. I guess we'll have to wait for the preview to come out in the News Tribune Friday
