ARM- do you know how the Final Face Off location is chosen?

Also, any insight as to why or why not to increase the maximum number of non-conference games? I often wonder if it has to do with budgets as well as wear and tear on the team.

It used to be played at non-WCHA rinks, such as Bloomington Ice Garden, Rochester, Fogarty Arena in Blaine, and the Ralph before UND was a WCHA member. Then they went to having it at Ridder because most of the WCHA coaches (other than Coach Miller) liked the central location and accomodations. Coach Miller feels it gives the host school an unfair advantage. I don't know if that is the case -- the best team has won more often than not, regardless of the host.

My guess is that it is some form of bid process that is then voted on by the member schools.

I hope that everyone in the WCHA will get the chance to come watch their respective teams play in the new Amsoil Arena. It would be great to start working on filling the place, especially for playoff and Frozen Four games!

When do Final Face Off tickets go on sale?

Does the skyway from downtown also reach the new arena?

Not sure about the ticket sales.... let me get thru summer first! But yes, the Skywalk system will get you to Amsoil!

Binny -- Thanks for posting. Had read it this am and was going to post it, but got diverted onto a project. Pretty interesting. Had discussed the Russian women program with Iya several times and she felt they really needed help, especially with the coaching. Thanks again.

Looks like Isabelle Jordansson won't be coming from Sweden for some reason. Not sure why. Grahm and Enstrom are still waiting for clearance, so maybe we'll have three Swedes instead of four this season. I'd like to see Winberg take on the role of mentor like Holmlov has been for her.

I heard nothing specific on Jordansson other than she just decided against it. It wasn't an eligibility issues. Bummer. Moving forward then.....
