I think Friddy's shoulder really *is* improving since the Whitecaps series.. She didn't hang her arm after plays like this yesterday

Really hope 'Skatefast' is right that it just going to keep improving since we saw her arm hang the first weekend.

Bring on UConn.. This was one of those weekends that reminds you of some of the early years when goals came in bunches

Nice response by the Dogs this weekend after that first period on Saturday - didn't allow another goal. I felt a bit bad for Jenny in that first period. I thought maybe she looked a little nervous to start the game . . . though it's hard to tell with her since she doesn't ever show much during the games. I think maybe Coach Miller switched her out just to keep her confidence from getting totally rocked playing behind a team that wasn't skating to help her out. Santa had a chance to see the score from the bench and was maybe more primed to come in and try to prevent more bad from happening. However, once Jenny got a few saves (and two pipes) under her belt in game two she looked solid.

I can't believe the way they came out buzzing in the 2nd! ;) When that first line (Irwin, Holmlov and Winberg,+ Wong) play the system with constant movement and slot passing from behind the goal I can see how it could be hard to stop. We got a hint of the potential . . . of course against better teams it won't look quite that easy!

It was also nice to see everyone play again. It will only strengthen the team as the season rolls on. Congrats ot Gina Dodge too - great first goal!

I don't know, Friddy seems to still be really favoring that shoulder.

Question: I thought during the course of the game that they changed the 4th goal to Holmlov/Winberg to give Elin a hat trick. But, the scoring I see in the box reflects the original announced scoring. Did anyone else hear that change?

Looking forward to the Banner raising on Saturday!

I think Bruce just got confused with the quick goals 17 seconds apart and then thought he announced it wrong also.. really liked the Holmlov from Winberg, then Winberg from Holmlov call he made after the Winberg goal when he re-read the Holmlov one..

As quick as Haley Irwin's starting.. she's going to reach her Freshman year totals for points (23 goals 37 assists) if not beat it.

10 players already have scored a goal this season.. with only 4 games played.. so far so good as far as trying to limit shorthanded opportunities .... not to jinx it but I was amazed that UMD and Mankato managed to go midway into the second period on Sunday without a penalty called.

Great pics!! Do you know, does the back "plate" (????) still have the lift bridge on it? (You should post Dodge's goal. I couldn't figure out how the shot she took got to the back of the net, now, I know!)

Yep.. Jenny's new helmet has the same back as her old one did, that I didn't even get a picture of until the Frozen Four.... other than the Frozen Four sticker I believe it's the same back piece.. but I'll have to look Saturday

The Gina Dodge goal Binny spoke of.... goaltender was screened *AND* didn't cover up her post.. but Gina had no time to aim as she skated into the zone and pounced on a free puck.. that's what makes it so good... the shot itself though.. the glass kind of ruins it :D

Thanks for posting it!! Truthfully, I didn't notice the glass until you mentioned it . . the "action" of the shot is above it and the puck is certainly the focus point . . . I think it's a great shot, all the way around!

I assume you all got the notice, too, but yesterday I got mine saying Nov. 6 is the date season ticket holders will be at Amsoil Arena to choose their seats. Wheeeee! :D

Yep.. got 10:30 am and now have to find something to kill about 5 hours before UMD volleyball .. not that I've *EVER* used the season seat they gave me .. it's right above the visitor net.. the first A in Alaska on the Alaska Anchorage sigh.. told them I want the season ticket but don't care where the seat is when I 'ordered' :D.. guessing 10:30 is one of the last times too.. since it starts at 10 and I've only had the women's season tix for 3 years now.. unless I got a priority bonus for the 13 years of men's tickets

Even if you were the very last one in the door, I'm liking your odds to get a good seat considering the number of seats in the building, the number of people holding women's season tickets, and your rather liberal constraints above. :cool:

I'll still never use the women's season seat on the ticket in the new arena.. the new place won't have photo cutouts far as they know (their wording) but the new glass and NCAA lighting requirements will allow for good shooting through the glass

I hadn't looked at UConn's roster yet.. it's too bad they're so young and not competing at the level of the last couple years...

It's hard to really critique today's performance over a far overmatched UConn team.. I don't know if I'll actually go do a seat choosing or not.. maybe I'll go and get a seat right on the glass for shooting pictures.. otherwise I never use the women's season seat I have anyway
