UMass Lowell Offseason Thread '13: In Norm We Trust

Re: UMass Lowell Offseason Thread '13: In Norm We Trust

I called the Penn State ticket office today. They will NOT be selling individual game tickets as they have sold out the entire arena with season ticket holders (the person I spoke with said there are 6 tickets left for season ticket sales in the entire arena) and they weren't told to put aside anything for a visitors section.

So let me get this straight. Absolutely no walk up tickets at box office or any away fans at any Penn State home game? Crazy. We should start a "ban Penn State fans" movement at their away games starting with whenever they're scheduled to come to Tsongas - no visitor allotment, nothing available at box office, etc.

Has anyone dropped in on their thread yet to question this? Just for fun.

Lowell preseason #1 in the USA Today Hockey poll.

Wow, absolutely stunning. Hockey East preseason poll comes out tomorrow, be interesting to see if the league mirrors the other two polls so far (College Hockey News and USA Today).

Also funny how Wisconsin got 1 first place vote, didn't anyone see how the frauds they are was totally exposed when Lowell dismantled the supposed "hottest team in the country" at last season's regionals?

Posted inquiry on Penn State thread, this was response I got so maybe there will be some available after all -

Single-game tickets haven't gone on sale yet. Regarding the number of season tickets and single-game availability, the last I heard was that there would only be about 200-300 single game tickets available for each game. I'm not sure if there are any blocks of tickets for visiting teams included

Re: UMass Lowell Offseason Thread '13: In Norm We Trust

The values in the polls look odd/wrong if they are using a typical Borda system. There are 4080 vote points in the thing... the points available in any one ballot is 120 (though, yes, the order is affixed)... that works out to 34 voters. There are 25 first place votes listed.

My guess, it was 29 1st place votes and 20 is a key-strike error. I was only doing all this because I wanted to see how we were splitting with the rest of the ballots. Basically the average of the other 5 ballots reflect an average placement of 6th.

I'm hoping that other schools are telling Penn State that this ticket situation is unacceptable and it may affect their scheduling decisions in the future.

I think that after the first year the novelty of hockey on campus will wear off and tickets will become available after a the team has a few 8-20-1 seasons.

1st place votes:

Lowell 20
Miami 9
Wisconsin 1
Yale 4

Adds up to 34.

Just got two tickets for the Friday game at Penn State off StubHub. Not happy about having to go through them, but it'll be worth it to see Lowell dismantle them. :D

Walking to and from North Station every day, I see advertisements on buses for UMass Football. Their tag line - UMass Football, All In. Sounds like someone is trying to copy Lowell... again.
