The press release author at UML should check before posting though as this isn't entirely accurate - "The team will begin its quest to defend its Hockey East titles on Oct. 12 when the University of Massachusetts makes its way to the Tsongas Center for the River Hawks first Hockey East action of the season." That game is technically a non-league game that doesn't count in the standings even though it is with a HE team. Lowell's first HE game that counts in the "quest to defend" is on Friday, November 1 when UNH comes to the Tsongas. Easy mistake to make given the schedule revamping this year and the need to fill out schedules with non-league games, many people are going to think it counts in the league standings.
