UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Exhibition Game this Sunday at Bentley... a team that gave us a lot of problems like most teams last year. With the amount of roster turnover, I have little to no expectations. All I hope is that some of the incoming freshman can really make an impact. Especially from Libor and Lee. I think we should be okay in net this year. Beni was a good pickup for the future, and we still have Henry if need be. What is everyone else's hope/expectations?

I have no idea what to expect. I'd like to see the offense actually not be offensive (pun fully intended). Will have to see if we can avoid the bottom of the barrel in the standings. The defensive core looks a lot sturdier this year (or at least I hope) and will definitely not be as young as last year (three freshmen last year, just one this year). We also have 7 grad students this year, and only had 3 last year, so another way that we're not as young as last year.

Thanks for setting up the new thread. The defense and goaltending should be solid, so it will come down to the offense again. I hope they can get off to a good start. I would like to see them play hard and fast and be a team that is tough to play against. Looking forward to getting a first look at the team on Sunday against Bentley.

Last year, Lowell ended the season with 5 goals in their last 7 games combined. At yesterday's exhibition game against Bentley, Lowell scored 6. Obviously our offensive woes are fixed! :)

Let's hope so. :) The team couldn't buy a goal last season.

It was nice to see them come back after falling behind. I believe most of the roster saw action. I didn't notice Dylan Bentley on the ice yesterday. Hopefully no one got hurt too badly. Scout Truman took a hard shot off his foot. He played the whole game but I'm sure he's sore today. Connor Eddy was injured in the 3rd period and had trouble getting off the ice, he didn't return.

Plenty of things to work on to get ready for UMD this coming weekend.

Well the season begins this weekend with two at home vs Minnesota Duluth. Duluth was preseason #18 in the USCHO poll, and picked 7th in the NCHC poll. Of course, 8 teams from the NCHC were in the USCHO poll, so that explains why so low at #7. Not exactly an easy matchup to start with, but looking forward to hockey!

Interesting quote from Norm post-game:

“We’ve got several freshmen who are very capable. And I think you’ll hear more about them as we play here. I’m playing them all in key situations: they’re playing the power play, they’re playing on the penalty kill… The days of saving freshmen for when they get older… they’re over.”

Looks like he realized that he definitely needed to change things up after last season.

I wasn’t able to make it to Friday’s game, but it’s hard not to be encouraged by what I saw last night. Lowell seemed to be in control from start to finish. The power play looked better than anything I’ve seen from this team in recent memory. A lot of time in the attack zone sending quick and on target passes to someone open leading shots got on net and IN THE NET!

Agree, that was the most complete game I've seen in a while. I also thought the team looked good on Friday night, but the (3) turnovers were the difference. Looking forward to next weekend against Colgate.

That's exactly my feeling. Walking out Friday night, even though we lost, I actually was optimistic. Saturday just put a smile on my face. Really liking these new faces and seeing Scout continue to get better is giving me hope.
