UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

Hope you feel better!

Agree on the missed the boat for the bus. I must say I am very surprised they did that so poorly. To announce mid-morning with no prior warning and then kill it before people even have a chance to find a way to get it together is....well, seems like there wasn't a whole lot of motivation to make it work.

It's really a shame and rather odd. First thing I've seen UML fail at during this stretch since Bazin came on board. Very uncharacteristic of everything they've been doing over the past five years. We're the ones that usually have their act together.

At least the school can offer a sounding board for ride shares and the rest.

The University is absolutely dead come Easter. These plans are made well in advance of the 6 days notice you get for Albany.

Just spoke to a representative at the Times Union Center, NO re-entry allowed between games on Saturday.

and it wouldn't shock me if UML people are more family oriented... etc, etc, etc.

Frankly, given how many others here are bailing...

I did put in a FB comment to the school... it sounds like they're going... something... I dunno.

Single day tickets are now available in the UML sections (104 & 103) on Ticketmaster.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

Since the current NCAA format was instituted, Lowell is undefeated (5-0) in opening round games. Let's hope this trend continues Saturday night!

And Yale, RIT, and Quinnipiac are all running student/fan buses but not Lowell. Still disappointed in the lack of publicity and effort on the part of Lowell to only offer up a bus for 6 hours yesterday and pull the plug prematurely. Not good.

I heard many complaints about our power play this past weekend. Don't expect anything Saturday night, as Yale kills them at an amazing 94.3% rate.

From my observation recently, Lowell seems to generate more scoring chances when shorthanded than when they're on the power play.

used to be that power plays would be like a loaded gun... you wait for your opening and then you fire without mercy... seems like they pass up the good opportunity to pass one more time. A bit more ruthlessness if you will.

If I'm Fred C Church, I'm going to sponsor the other team's PK next year. I wouldn't want my company associated with the garbage that is the Lowell PP... unless of course the PP is sponsored by Waste Management.

Running theory- everyone has to touch the puck 2 times before we can shoot. Seems accurate.

Heh. well played

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread II

A key ingredient to any championship team is that they must have faced and worked their way through some form of adversity through the season. Northeastern is a prime example of this in winning Hockey East. In cases where good teams haven't experienced adversity, coaches will create this on their own for a period of time. If we look at 2 of the top 4 seeds in Boston College and North Dakota, both went relatively unchallenged during the regular season but didn;t win their respective leagues. it will be interesting to see how they respond to this. In Lowell's case, there has been enough adversity to prove that the team is resilient. The challenge for this team is consistency. Championship teams are able to bring consistency to most parts of their game on a game in and game out basis. This has been a struggle for Lowell all year in playing consistent hockey for 60 minutes each game and also in back to back games. There are no more second chances so we will see if this team has the make-up to be a championship team.

That's too bad about the student bus. C'mon UML!
Oh well, we'll be there (Section 104) cheering on the boys all weekend.
Anyone heading to the DCU tomorrow?? Should be a good set of games.
I'm thinking UMD and BC on Saturday night (late!).
