UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March Thread II

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March Thread II

So CJ Smith is tearing it up this year, putting up similar numbers to Scott Wilson his rookie year, and yet, no one is talking about him. Another 3 points tonight puts him just under a ppg pace for the season. Always seems like norm is able to find one of these quality scorers each year. Now to get two or three and throw another helleybuck in there, and maybe find another dehner or kinley, or ruhwedel and the team would be in business.

Box score says it was Tyler Mueller with the 10:00 misconduct, not Smith.
The answer is no on a suspension for the misconduct. The player gets a 1 game suspension if he gets a Game Disqualification.
Game Misconduct also does not result in a suspension... only a Game DQ.

Ah my bad on mixing up who got the misconduct. Good news there since it would be pretty bad to have someone out for BU.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March Thread II

. They dominated the entire game so if they play like that again tonight, UML wins 5 to 1.
Almost a perfect call!

Scoring on their first shot last night was just huge. Once again, a solidly played game. Should have had a shutout but somehow Boyle wasn't able to to control a puck that was actually under his glove with no one actually touching it.

Then again there was the whole 2nd period where Boyle was fighting the puck. Lowell was fortunate that Merrimack did not not score 3 more times that period.
The defense cleared away an almost sure goal in the crease and 2 posts were hit. Boyle main 1 great save on the breakaway when the game was still close
but he was the same as he is always is.

Something changed in that 2nd period. The play became more wide open and Merrimack stepped it up after Lowell's second goal. A lot of sloppy play by the Hawks in their defensive zone resulting in some anxious moments. Huge shorthanded goal by Chapie to take the pressure off. A better 3rd period with a nice goal by CJ Smith that put the game away.

A tough road trip for UNH trying to get home from Notre Dame.

Due to bad weather all flights out are cancelled tomorrow so they are on a 15 hr. bus ride... UNH fans and the radio team is stranded as well. Gonna be a long ride home.

Following their progress on Facebook and Twitter thanks to Dan Parkhurst. They are in Ohio, just ahead of the storm. They will have to change buses in Buffalo. A contingent of UNH fans rented cars and are also driving home.

Hutton had a shutout for the Preds last night. Good night for Lowell all around! :)

I had to laugh at this headline, as UML's WBB beat Binghampton the other day.

"Women's basketball falls, 49-66, but wins turnover battle against UMass Lowell"

Had a big but I thought kind of mellow crowd on Saturday for PC but Friday is gonna be a zoo! Only SRO left. Biggest game of the season so far I hope the Riverhawks are pumped and maybe BU is a little down after the Beanpot excitement. I'm definitely pulling for Northeatsern but do we root for Harvard or BU? Tough call.

BU, never. But that's just me.

BU in double OT. Realllllly wanted to see them lose so the announcers could stop talking about the golden child on the ice (really boys, someone else scores the winner and they are still drooling on about him. How about giving the guy who scored some credit????) but 2 OT and exhaustion is still good.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March Thread II

I'm actually a tad anxious that there will be a very big turnout of BU fans. They tend to travel well enough and North Chelmsford is a stone's throw from Tsonga's so its like Eichel's backyard. Hopefully the students for us have a really big turnout

Question about Friday - I usually park in the garage. Given the hellacious traffic out due to this weather, not sure what our ETA will be. What's the parking options if that garage is full? And so you know, our allotment of tickets sold out plus the Alumni Association is having an event Friday night pre-game.

There are plenty of parking meters that charge a flat $5.00 rate on game nights on Father Morissette Blvd as well as the neighborhood between the arena and LeLacheur Park where Beer Works is. Also, next to beer works there is a pay lot on Hall St ($10 I believe). The sidewalks may still be snow filled and icy, so be prepared for that.

I'm expecting severe traffic and am going to try and leave work an hour earlier than I normally would.

I was at Tsongas yesterday afternoon, and leaving there at 5:30, it took me 45 minutes just to get to Drum Hill.

How did you go? I'm planning to take 93 to 110 and cross over the river at Bridge St. I live pretty close to 93 otherwise I'd attempt Rt 3 but I have a feeling it will be easier to deal with 93N traffic.
