Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

The subject of the Fenway games comes up about half way through. . He also mentioned the league has made it clear that teams that have yet to participate need to be involved. .

good and all that have participated in the past should never have to do it again

As dull as that game was, I had a good time at Tsongas. I hadn't been there for a couple seasons and I thought the whole game presentation on the Jumbotron was much improved, especially with the player introductions. Didn't the Jumbotron not be able to play video or am I making that up? I thought the crowd and atmosphere was pretty solid as well. It seems like the school has done a good job marketing the team to the city. Whenever I come to Tsongas I always like that you can tell how long someone has been a fan based on what Riverhawk/Chief jersey they're wearing. Same thing at NU, since we change our jerseys so much.

I love The Tsongas, I really don't think there's a better arena in the league to watch games from, especially with the improvements the last few years... Agganis is nice and shiny, but the seats, especially in the corner, weren't meant for us taller folk...

I hope Lowell is able to have a strong second half for two reasons, First so you guys don't lose the momentum as far as support goes (a full Tsongas is a fun Tsongas), and a TUC Lowell helps us... good luck Hawks!

I kept thinking back to this comment during that pathetic excuse for a hockey game...
Look as sad as this situation is, I don't care if we win 1-0 and NU puts the puck in their own net. At this point, 2 points is 2 points. We're at the desperate stage folks. Something I think none of us saw coming this season.
And yep, I'll take it.
A win is a win....no matter how ugly it was, especially the 1st period.
I'm stunned that there seems to be little to no passion from this group. They came out flat. Again.

and the beer selection is excellent! :D
Thanks for the kind words. As a Lowell alum that used to love the Tully, the Tsongas was for a while just a sterile atmosphere and stadium. The last couple of years, once UML bought the place, has completely changed it, both in regards to what you actually see (video boards, beer, Diamond Vision) and in regards to crowds (huge credit to the marketing department). To me, it's much better than a very expensive Agganis.

Well it sounds like BC will probably be involved again. Apparently the preliminary plan is for a BC vs. Notre Dame matchup.

From Mike McMahon's twitter:
From what I've been told, sounds like the preliminary plan is BC-Notre Dame and Merrimack-Providence with Lowell vs. ??? the next weekend.

I'm not a big fan of these outdoor games, the novelty has worn off. Plus, I want to be able to see the game. Having said that, I would probably end up going to support the team. I just hope Lowell is involved in the main event.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

From the Mack Report site. Here's an interview with Merrimack's radio analyst Mike Machnik and HE commissioner Joe Bertagna. The subject of the Fenway games comes up about half way through. According to Joe there's a good chance it will happen. He also mentioned the league has made it clear that teams that have yet to participate need to be involved. It sounds like it would be similar to last season where they would have a main event and then have another league game there several days later.

Again it's going to be Bertagna finding a way to let his outward disdain of Lowell shine through.

So the last possible game on the third go around and they're finally getting Lowell involved. I guess we're supposed to feel honored? This is complete BS. I'm sorry, were Suffolk and MIT booked for that day? This is nothing more than a pity game, and honestly any Lowell fans who attend this pathetic, embarrassing excuse of an event are part of the problem.

For a lot of fans the novelty may have worn off, but, it's for the players. I imagine the desire to play in one hasn't?

I agree it is BS that UML gets the last game the third time around but how can you say those of you that go are part of the problem? I'm guessing, however, that you will be there ;)

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Is anyone heading to Harvard tomorrow night? I've never been to the Bright Center. What's it like?

Ill be watching on NBCSN tommorow night.

Some observations from last night

McGrath has some nice moves especially on his goal, but gets bumped off the puck a little to often

Hellebuyck looked solid

Wilson continues to impress

Don't think this game is on NBCSN - at least, I didn't see it on an NBCSN online schedule and didn't see anything about it on Harvard's website.

Would be nice if it was though.
