Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

No, just schizophrenic. Or possibly has MPD (multiple personality disorder) with rapid cycling. Parts of the game they were incredible other parts- not so much.

Agreed. That stretch in the 2nd period was great but other parts, not so. Need to get things straightened out fast before the season does start to slip away.

On a positive note, one of the highlights of the evening was former UML netminder Jimi St. John visiting Section 107 for a bit.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Just so everyone is clear, Lowell has the worst PK in the nation. They can't beat a 1-9 team after two weeks off at home. Who are they going to beat? The defense keeps hanging Carr out to dry. Wetmore us showing up. But Wallin and Wilson have yet to be seen this season. Their breakout is laughable, they can't forecheck and they take stupid, stupid penalties at the worst time (see Ruhwedel and McGrath tonight).

You wouldn't know this team is a colossal disappointment listening to Bazin, he doesn't sound remotely concerned. Neither does Bob. If being 2-4-1 and losing to one of the worst teams in the country WITHOUT their best player isn't time to panic, when DO you worry?
It must take a lot of effort to be this reactive and maintain the level of pessimism you do. Good grief man! It isn't even December yet. Waste of energy to get in a lather this early.

Considering they have just six home games after the new year, giving away points at home to bad teams (UVM and Maine) in the first half is going to kill this team.

And by all means, please give me a list of the things you've seen from this team to date that give you hope for the future. Go ahead, I'll wait.

I might be too pessimistic, but my god. Some of you act like this HORRIFIC start is no big deal. If you're not worried at this point I don't know what games you're watching.

27 Zack Kamrass D -3
28 Jake Suter D -4
23 Scott Wilson F -6

Some of our best freshman from last year are playing very poorly. Jake Suter was -3 last night!

The team is not looking like they are a NCAA tourney team and they should fall out of the National Polls on Monday. I know I wouldn't keep them ranked after the last two performances AT HOME.

I am hopeful, but the team is not showing any signs that they will be anywhere near as successful as last year. At this rate if they don't start improving against teams they need to beat, let alone the "good" teams, we may be on the outside looking in for both tournaments.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

This team is awful.

At this point right now, this is the best assessment of the team. They have played 1 game well and that was the game at home against BC. The rest of the games have been not been good performances, even though somehow have 2 wins.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Well, I think there is cause for panic because of two things:
1. Players from last year are not producing, plain and simple. And if you look at the last seasons last few regular season games and HE playoffs, it's no surprise.
2. ( my close buddy takes full credit for this one) WHY IS BAZIN ROLLING OUT 4 FRESHMEN FORWARDS EVERY NIGHT? AND ON TOP OF IT HE SPREADING THEM ALL OUT ACROSS ALL LINES. Like that's going to balance the scoring? One freshmen forward should be playing, McGrath, plus one more. All others, make room for Buco, lyles( yes as a forward).

Also I think Wilson got pretty hurt last night.

Even with the performance thus far, I cannot not endorse Lyles lacing them up anytime before Senior Night.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

I finally made it to Tsongas for the first time ever for last night's game. I was there with the many groups of Scouts - got to skate on the ice with my kids before the game. Very nice arena. Good sight lines. I liked the military tributes - do they do those every game, or just because of Veterans Day? I might have combined all branches into one tribute rather than 5 different times. And as someone who doesn't eat/drink gluten, I was excited to see they sell Mike's. Until I saw the price:eek: $7.50 for one bottle, when a 6-pack costs 6.99 in most stores. I decided to pass.

Loved how easy the parking was. I'll definitely take a game against BU there vs. Volpe, even though it's a little further of a drive.

As for the price, yeah its high, but better then an arena without any of the alcohol.

Glad you enjoyed Tsongas and we welcome you back any time :)

Food fr thought: Lowell isn't going to sniff 6K attendance again this year. It will be another byproduct of looking pedestrian on the ice. The student attendance has already started to shrink. You gotta love what Lowell does to itself. Every time this team should be good they end up puking all over themselves. And every time they get the early fan support they don't play well enough to sustain it. It's a shame, really.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

I think it's time to forget about last season and the polls. The team is inconsistant right now and everything just seems to be off. The offense continues to struggle with little sustained pressure. The passing is off and forced, special teams are struggling. Where's the forecheck? One moment they look like they were about to run Maine out of the building, the next, they can't get the puck out of their own zone for an extended period of time. Maine did a nice job on the forecheck last night which really gave the Hawks trouble.

Hopefully Wilson is ok. According to the boxscore he only had one shot on goal last night, Wallin had none. That needs to change.

Another tough weekend coming up. Let's hope things start to click soon.

Tonight... Way too sloppy, we're too predictable, and Carr didn't have his best night (goal #1 he should had... Not sure how he lost sight on number two but its unclear how far over he could have gotten).
The intial shot on the second goal hit the post and rebound went right to the Maine player who buried it.

I'm quite aware of that.... But I'd like to think Carr should have known it was going to that side... Unless he assumed he was beat on the initial shot? To me it comes down to if he was screened... If it was going that side he should have gotten over there
