Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

BTW, Men's Soccer has a match at Stonehill this afternoon. A win would give them the NE-10 Regular Season title for the first time ever.

Unfortunately, they caught a case of the hockey team's offensive woes. blech.

From CHN: The game takeaway.

The puck has to start going in sooner or later, right? A nice job by the Hawks staying out of the box tonight. The PP and faceoffs need some work. Lowell went 0-4 on the PP with 5 shots on net. All the shots were on the first PP. After that first one the PP looked dreadful. BC won the faceoff battle by a wide margin 43-29.

It's an early bye week for the team, but I think it's really needed at this point.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Wilson just scored actually.

But agree completely.

It was good to see Arnold get one too.

Over all it was a tough afternoon for the Hawks. BC came out strong and out skated the Hawks for much of game. Some bad penalties didn't help. Every time Lowell turned it over it seemed like BC came back with an odd man rush. BC’s skating and passing was impressive. I'm not sure I would blame Carr on any of the goals. He didn't get much help. The D needed to do a better job clearing the front of the net today.

Monty, Were you at the Revs game yesterday? I turned the game on just as the Revs scored and i thought I saw you in the crowd.

I didn't watch either game this weekend... but given what I've seen... It'll do them a whole lot of good.

---

If I were going to say my thoughts openly I would have said its strongly likely we'd lose both. BC is a juggernaut these days and we have some issues. Some time to work together and polish things up... I don't know who they play next but they need to put up a strong result.

2 vs Maine in two weeks... need the 4 points... it'd put them at a point/gm pace after 5 HE games.

I'd like to see 4 obviously, but even 3 would be a step in the right direction. We've had two great crowds the first two games, and we've seen all of 1 goal scored in 125 minutes of play. Don't give people a reason NOT to come to games.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Congrats to the Field Hockey team for once again winning the NE-10 Tournament. They did it the same way as last year, having lost to Merrimack during the regular season, and then beating them in the final for the second straight year (and third straight overall).

The NCAA Tournament will be announced this afternoon at 2. Good luck!

Yes, the crowd /student turn out has been great so far but they have had very little to cheer about. The Hawks need to take advantage of home ice. There's 9 games left before the break with 6 being at home. It's time for the team to put it together and take care of business.

Ryan McGrath had another solid game yesterday.

A bit surprised to see Lowell is still ranked ... #14 in the USCHO Poll this week.

Lowell received the number 1 seed and will be hosting the tournament November 9th and 11th. Will play the winner between Merrimack and Bentley.

I'm not for the only reason that the three losses have come at the hands of top-ranked Boston College and #3 Denver, two of them on the road in places where opposing teams don't see many wins. Bottom line, I think Lowell is getting that benefit of the doubt that the scoring is in a slump and expected to rebound. A simple lack of scoring and costly penalties is holding this team back big time.

With that being said, they have to think four points when Maine comes to town. While some people will be happy for two points, I think Lowell will free fall in the polls if Maine takes any points coming in 1-8-0 or 2-7-0.

I hate to say it, but if Maine comes in at 1-8-0, they have to take all four points simply based on what PC did.
