Thought maybe off the shaft ? Iow goalie got shafted?

Watched my dvr of the game just now, and from what I saw, he twisted his stick back behind and under him as he was flat on the ice and heading for the boards, and swiped at it, getting it with maybe the heel of the blade. Watching him hustle up the ice reminded me of Joey Diamond without the penalties.

Nice to have some guys with some skill, hustle and compete level, and know what to do with, and where to go with the puck.

And when did Schurhamer turn into Prestin Ryan? Lugging the puck up ice, hustling down the slot to score goals, where'd this offensive game come from?

If you click ahead to 26:35 remaining in the video, there's the lead up to the goal, and replays including the overhead... shea gets the shaft of his stick on it and it slips in...

Cool, thanks for the link. Still can't believe that puck went in, no doubt the shaft of his stick.kept playing the puck the whole time. Great play

Is the feed working for anyone? I have audio only.

Try again. There are 2 links, one for audio only and one for video. At least once we picked the wrong one. Maybe the redirection isn't always working right.

Very disappointed in 1st period. Looks like last year's team. Lots of mistakes. 4 power plays for Quinnipiac . Garbage period

Yes having been there last night and seen them win coming back from 2 goals in the 3rd twice I agree this team is GARBAGE!! Period!!! Man Wally 3-0 and you are kidding? This team is going to have bad periods and games, but they are a different animal! 2 third period wins already! Did we have even 1 come from behind win in the third last year? Enjoy the effort and let's understand they'll make there share of mistakes!

What the f are you talking about. I said they took too many penalties and they played like garbage in that period. I made no comment about the team being garbage or their record in the last 3 games. It was an observation about their play in 1 period

Maine lose in ot on a scramble out front.

Got 2 points out of the weekend and maine played with the number 3 team in the nation. Not bad at all

I'll take it.

A split next weekend would be really nice.

Good weekend for the Black Bears. Impressed with the way you never quit. Good luck the rest of the way.

After last season I wasn't completely sold on McGovern. I liked his size, but didn't think he moved very well in the net. Looks like a totally different goaltender and so far the numbers back that up (2.22 GAA and .931 SV%). Certainly been a while since Maine has had someone who looks like they can stand on their head and keep this team around in some games.

Looking like they can play with anyone in the country and go toe to toe with them talent wise. I would say Q pretty happy and lucky to get anything out of this past weekend. Effort has been there since Red took over. Sure seems all the pieces in place now for them to have a good season. I'm optimistic. They'll be some bumps along the way, but they will get their fair share of wins too so long as they don't leave the effort part of the equation in the locker room. Gonna be fun to be relevant again. I think a 500 season is doable and who knows beyond that. Got a glimpse of Mundinger skating ...looks to be pretty smooth skater and athletic. Anyone seen him play?

He has been a huge part of this start. He gets in the way and I like the way he clears guys out in front of him:) Probably isn't the quickest side to side but he seems to be in the position so that hasn't been an issue. Teams will figure that out though. I thought Q was trying for high glove hand. Much improved and good to see.

Hopefully Maine can get out to good starts next weekend instead of playing from behind.

Re: UMaine Black Bears, 2016 2017 season thread

In our praise of Rob and his great start I thought it would be prudent to give props to a very good first four games from the blue line. Our defensive pairings are greatly improved over last season. Despite losing the teams top defenseman this group has made great strides. Michel is really becoming a very good all around defensemen and looks the part of a future captain. Muehlbauer, what a difference from his first game last fall where he looked out of place and outmatched, now hey may be our best defensive defenseman while also pinching and contributing in the offensive zone. Mark is playing much more controlled in his enforcer role and no longer taking the routine boarding penalty a game (by the way terrible call on the elbowing penalty Sat night). Becker's positioning has been fantastic, not flashy but very reliable to start the season. Holway is legit, what a shot, I can't wait to see his first goal from the point. Eric still has is problems keeping the puck in the offensive zone at times but he has displayed a much more aggressive game at both ends this year that has provided great results, he may be the most improved defenseman. Here's to the blue line!!

Go Blue!!
