I guess my main q is: how likely/unlikely is it that a goalie that’s a stud w a two yr track record elsewhere, comes in and falls on their face, etc

He didn’t fall flat on his face. He just regressed to an Ostman type showing. However, he played much better this series in Denver. Let’s see how he fairs down the stretch. Keep in mind, his ceiling is high. He way in the top 3 goaltending last year.
 
What a great weekend for the boys and will certainly make the rest of the season interesting. More so than just getting results out west, they played much more like a unit and really handled DU 5 on 5.

A lot of talk about the NPI but I don’t necessarily think it’s about Maine’s results as it is about the rest of Hockey East’s results. If Maine had this exact same record last season I’d have to imagine we’d be #10 or higher. Dropping games 4 games to UVM, Colgate and UNH hasn’t helped but the floor Hockey East being so low in the NPI is what’s crushing them.

I think some of it has to do with the amount of new players in the lineup in front of him. There has been some serious adjusting and line shuffling all season for Barr to navigate and it hasn't entirely gone smoothly. The defensive ability of the forwards lost last year (Scott, Breen, Makar, etc) can't be understated in how much easier they made his life.

Add to that some chatter about Boija not being 100% earlier in the season and it's not a shock that he hasn't been playing with the level of confidence he showed last year.
 
Despite being #22 in the NPI, this team is actually still in a great spot to make the NCAAs. If they learn to take care of business at home, they should be on the right side of the bubble.

Ive made it a point that if a Black Bear from when I was a student plays in the NHL, I buy his sweater. Right now my collection is three. If Eddie got called up to the league Id be ecstatic and would buy his immediately; he was one of my favorite players from that era, probably my second favorite.
 
How does BU get a guy rom Frederickton NB, 2 hours to Alfond by car, supposed to be a 1st round pick.
