You put the right guy behind the bench, and recruiting is alot harder then it use to be...but if you have the right people in place and all with the same common goal: Winning and bringing back the Passion to the Program the Building and with the Fans...you'll get recruits, and at the same time you'll miss some also...but the chances of say a "Montgomery" making the recruiting pitch compared to Whitehead is overwheming...(imo).

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Hiring alumni to coach doesn't work out half the time, but a Monty/Corkum twosome certainly would bring more ummph to the process.

I don't think Tim has ever been fully invested in Maine, or perhaps he just lacks the wherewithal to steward a top program...Either way you slice it, he has failed miserably, and warrants a swift kick ASAP. I hope he lands softly elsewhere, but most of all, I hope he lands somewhere else soon.

Anyone heard if Sullivan's leg injury is something worrisome or just an ache?

I'd rather not imagine having to see Seeley and Marty this weekend.

Edit: Also, that "ifonlyhehadmolestedkids" tag shouldn't have made me laugh as hard as it did. Serious rep to whoever did that.
Todays BDNews had a small article on all the Maine teams in action...they said that Sullivan had a ankle injury from the Clarkson game...he could play and if not then Ouellette was waiting in the wings.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

If you brought Monty in, you would also open up Quebec and Eastern Ontario very quickly....lot's of talented kids, who are english or french speaking, but don't want to move to Chicoutimi or Val D'Or to play in the Q....top recruit for BC is from Anglo montreal....could just as easily come to Maine, IF the right environment existed.

Corks is a pro mindset guys...ask the players, "who runs a better practice"...Corks every time Tim "Michael Scott" Whitehead doesn't understand that leadership is a word that requires action not just words...words are just wind.... No communication on bench, TW doesn't share decison making with ***'ts....not a good recipe for success.....all that said, given the current economics....Jim M won't be hourse hunting in Bangor anytime soon

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

What do you folks think about this weekend? I'm going with a win and a tie. Vermont is not a good team, but they did beat UMinn so if we arn't careful......

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

VT D are big but not fleet of foot, so if we carry speed into zone, could be very good news. Also 'Cats PK is next to last in D1...and Maine PP is clicking of late, another good thing . Depends on 'tender...do we get the good or the evil twin.....

Yea quite frankly this is a team we need to take care of business with. 4 points would be nice. Maybe Sullivans bum ankle will keep him from roaming. Those types of goals he's been giving up are so preventable. It would be nice to think that we have some trends developing with this team with could lead to a bit more sucess. The one thing that absolutey has to stop are the needless penalties. Again, thats a fixable problem.

That's funny I thought Johnny Gaudreau (CGY) Fr F 5-7 150 18 Carneys Point, NJ / Dubuque (USHL) was BC's top recruit.

ask hokydad, but I bet there is not a handful of players who would trade "winning" for "playing at the next level"

players go where they get the best chance at playing at the next level, not where they are gonna get a ring.

Red Berenson has how many rings this past decade? and how many NHL/AHLers?

I think Madores stats are worse than Marty's so Maine should have a chance for 4 pts, 3 is more likely and 2 is probably what will happen

Madore's 4.10 GAA is the 3rd worst in the country. Ouellette's 3.31 ranks 9th worst.

SV% is a little closer: Madore has an .862% (3rd worst) and Marty is 4th worst at .873.

I haven't heard if Sully starting tonight or not.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

I watched Madore play in Minnesota earlier this year, on Friday he left the stop sign in his luggage at the hotel. However on Sunday it was a different story although the Gophers scored 4 goals on him he had a lot of huge saves, keeping the Cats in the game for a 5-4 win.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Madore has only one game where he hasn't allowed at least four goals. Can't hang all that on the defense.

Maine's top-line should tear them up this weekend.

Matheson out of the west Island will be there next year and is very higly regarded d http://m.thehockeynews.com/articles/41552-VIDEO-Oneonone-with-Dubuque-Fighting-Saints-defenseman-NHL-prospect-Michael-Matheson.html. Plays for montgomry this year

STOP SPENDING MONEY ON THIS PROGRAM. That is the way to really take a stance and something that Abbott will REALLY understand. It's all about $$$$.......withhold enough of it, and suddenly it makes good business sense to can Whitehead! :)

Steve wants to pull the plug on Timmay's Reign of Terror...TRUST ME.

But since he got handcuffed with a new contract before ever taking over, he just needs to figure it out financially.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

1-1 with 5 left in the first. flynn from abbott ties things up for maine

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

abbott makes it 2-1 maine... his 100th point for maine
