Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

hegarty is the one that blows my mind. freight train playing 1/10 as tough as Bret Tyler heck 1/10 as tough as Leveille/Damon or pretty much on par with Keenan Hopson

Pryor plays like he has had many concussions.. like Reimann... I cannot falut HIM (or timmy for the way pryor plays)

I said it before, by now, (or even two seasons ago) I figured Hegarty would have been the stud of the defensive corp, an AJ Begg type, butr he's really done nothing in his time at Maine.

Funny was in Orono today and ran into a few of the alumi association and they were asking why I hadn't been up etc. Said until Tim is gone.......they all said can't comment on that! Wonder if that's a good sign or bad?
Depends on what side of the fence they are...

I cringe when he's on the ice,he should spend some or a good amout of time in the stands (just imo).

Woodward got an extension through 2015 today.
Saw that this morning...my 1st thoughts was OH NO...but not towards BB Coach Woodard, but the thought of what maybe in store after the Hockey Season...I didn't come away with a good feeling....geez if they retain TW..........................? Had to refrain from what I really thought.

but using a freight train to play poke check D? I cannot blame Hegarty, his skills are not being used right.

(Aside from repeatedly coughing the puck up while passing/skating through his own low-slot... That tendency drives me nuts, and certainly it should've been coached out of him a day or two into his freshmen year.)

The worst part about the above statement is we are seeing this type of play/plays from a high percentage of recruits the last few years...like you said it should have been FIXED from the get-go....but it hasn't and it won't....until there's change we'll see the same over and over, turnovers and cheap goals. When you don't take care of your own end first then your in for a long game/season.

Re: UMaine, 2011-2012 season thread, does anyone care anymore?

Having just sat down to watch HBO's 24/7 Rangers-Flyers this morning, it makes me long for a coach like Torts with the desire to just flat out win.

Which is baffling, since he came from the USNDT, and you would have thought he wouldn't be bringing those sorts of tendencies with him from that program.

Yup, he does...

Maine baseball is back on the national map, despite how difficult it is to play that game in a *hockey* climate.

How do you get from Woodward to UM Baseball? You know Teddy coaches the Men's Basketball team (won past 3, 6-4 overall), right?

Hey, Woodward has been winning as of late, has gotten great recruits (Justin Edwards), and may be the favorite to win the conference this year. Three things that hockey hasn't/can't do.

Because I never check my facts, that's how! I really should work on that, but I probably won't. :D

Still, nice to see Black Bear baseball making a few waves. That was the premier program back in the day, when hockey was in its infancy. It was great to watch Billy Swift and Mike Bordick at Maine, and then for many years to follow in the Bigs.

Hoops let me down a little last year, when they'd returned pretty much the whole team yet swooned in the 2nd half, but I watched the Notre Dame game a couple of weeks ago, and looks like Maine will be a factor in their conference.

Football was a lot of fun this season, too, needless to say... Nice to have some consolation re: Maine sports in general while TW is in the process of making hockey an afterthought. (Now I have to get to a field hockey game!)

Merry Christmas, fellow internet nut-cases.

I want to be the first and maybe the only one to wish Big Pappa a very Merry Christmas.

And Tim and his family, and all the players and their families,too...

All the griping on here isn't meant as personal. I have no doubt that everyone involved in the program is doing his best to succeed.

+1 on that. Happy New year to all the folks on here and those involved with the program. Hockey is hockey, health, friends and family are whats really important. Having said that, GO BLUE :)

Couldn't agree more. Tim isn't the man for the job, but he sure as heck isn't trying to ruin the program. He might be doing a terrible job and he might be letting his ego get in the way or be in denial, but he isn't intentionally trying to sabotage the program. The "internet nutcases" will be taken a lot more seriously if you leave the personal attacks out and just stick to facts on how terrible of a coach he is.
