I can't wait for Notre Dame to join the league. They should help break up the Bostoncentricity of this league a bit........and hopefully Maine will have a new coach by then.

Just out of curiosity, but how does a coach go about keeping a kid around whose GPA does not meet NCAA eligibility requirements?

look up "bag", I am sure they still use the term

and I never said anything about a GPA... i did say that some universities kept illiterates around... you do the math

Looks like Mr. Whitehead didn't do himself any favors this week when he raked Maine hockey fans over the coals..........this group went from about 350 members at the beginning of last week to currently 410 members.

I'm rooting for the Bears to win the trophy in Florida. (Seriously.)

It's a fine line to walk, to pray for a change and still hope that Maine has enough talent around for the next coach to have a chance to succeed.

I think that the former is more likely than the latter, though... The longer Tim is at the helm, the harder it's gonna be to right the ship. He has dug a deep hole for the program, already.

Seriously, who isn't? Its a myth that tons of folks want the team to lose so Timmay gets fired. I don't see how anyone who has followed the team for years could want to see the kids lose.

I just signed it. It's very well written - sensible without being disrespectful to either TW or the players. Thats the way to do it. No spewing of venom.

Yup. The only thing I want the team to lose is its head coach. I shall decease with my posts of overly morbid ways to rid the program of Whathead, but will not stop refering to him as Whathead.

Exactly. We are however, reacting to REALITY.......which Whitehead doesn't seem to comprehend. We are NOT OK with the direction of the program based upon ACTUAL RESULTS over MULTIPLE YEARS!

This is wrong! Coach Whitehead is a dedicated hard working, knowlegeable coach that deserves our respect.
I refuse to sign any petition that places the blame square on our coaches shoulders.
When will this small minority of unhappy fans realize that Coach Whitehead is part of the solution. He is not the problem.

Let's support our Black Bears and give cheer and accolades for the players that work hard every shift.

Winning and losing is part of the game.
Just relax and enjoy Maine hockey.

We are lucky to have such a great and storied tradition and all the lousy petitions in the world won't change that.

If you want to support our team then support it in a positive manner and stop trying to tear it down.

It can't be him because whoever wrote that must have actually watched a game, which Forsyth stopped doing years ago. He never went to the Alfond, so watched only a few games on TV and listened to the rest on the radio and was only interested in statistics, not how the games actually were played.

Not that simple, IMO.

I mourn every Maine loss, but if going 0-15 up to this point in this season would've expedited Tim's departure, I would have reluctantly signed-on. (Had that happened years sooner, TW would certainly be in Maine's rear-view by now, which, in retrospect, might have been the way to go.)

He has a knack for being just crappy enough to keep collecting his fat paycheck, God bless him. He ought to give instructional seminars on that, once he's through with coaching.

But see its not going to, he has a 3 year contract worth close to a 1/2 million dollars or more. Its not wins or losses at this point its a contract that's a public relations nightmare. So thinking 0-15 is going to do something at this point in the season is just plain wrong

I have been just reading posts of late. There are a lot of silent supporters of Coach Whitehead.
Many just brush off all the negative comments because they are the loud minority.

We have an awesome program here at Maine.

Hockey will always bring out passionate people and everybody is entitled to an opinion.
I just don't understand why people always want to blame TW.

Coach Whitehead is an excellent person that leads by example. He is an incredible role model
and our program is in good hands and thriving.

True we win and lose but that's hockey.

yeah... I was hoping that he had SOME redeeming quality... pretty perceptive of you... and I am afraid you are correct... Forsyth still has no redeeming quality (that he cares to share)
