UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

Nice!
It might not mean anything, but I was looking at the last couple of years, and in both 13/14 and 14/15, the largest margin of loss was 10, and the largest margin of victory was by 3 goals or so. In 15/16, it was 5 & 5. This is a good thing :-)

UAH's average goal differential and shot differential were about half what they were previously. It didn't show up in the win column but I heard a lot of coaches comment on how improved the Chargers were this past season. Hopefully the team continues to makes strides as the depth improves.

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

I don't know how much I'm at liberty to say about Carmine's situation — I'll confirm that when I talk to Corbs on Wednesday — but Carmine will be back after an NCAA waiver gave him eligibility with a games penalty. I'm really happy that a guy that probably didn't plan on playing NCAA hockey and played past 21 in a playoff run for what may have been his last competitive hockey games gets to come back for his senior year, play NCAA another (partial) season, and most importantly graduate.

Also, that Cam Talbot kid is all right, man. Starting job for a storied franchise, teammate to a few of the top young players, turns 29 in about six weeks, and married to a lovely gal. That's living the dream.

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

If anyone here is interested, I have a couple extra of the UAH blue jersey style that was used from 2013-16. Both are Gemini pro-weight dazzle mesh size 52 (measure about 27" across the check just under the arms). Everything is either sewn twill or directly embroidered (WCHA logo). The #44, to the best of my knowledge, was never worn by anyone. I don't see any signs of a nameplate removal and it looks brand new. The #18 is game used (2013-14 Brandon Clowes / 2015-16 James Block) and had a nameplate at point but it was stripped off to make the NCAA happy...

I'm looking to get $110 for the #44 and $150 for the #18 (shipping w/in the US is included). You can click on the images to view larger versions. If you have any questions or would like to purchase one of them, feel free to email me at info@johnsonsjerseys.net.

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

Awesome collection of game worn jersey's you have, while my intentions are much more modest I tend to collect a couple (home & away) from each team my son has played for along his journey from house league, competitive minor hockey, Jr. A, NCAA Div 1, to where ever the road ends.

Course we have friends playing everywhere and some in the NHL already, would be just too many jerseys would go broke trying to keep up on that.

Love your passion however, your basement sports room must be phenomenal.

Brandon Salerno a few posts up is listed as a "Freshman" for the 2016 / 2017 season, did he "red shirt" and therefore correct or will he be a Sophomore this coming season. Just curious as others on the list have had their status changed to reflect the next season.

Salerno is listed as a freshman the same way that Poulsen was last year: It's their first year of NCAA competition, but it's their second year in school. I look forward to seeing both of them potting goals for UAH starting in four months.

Honestly it's more storage than a display. It's really just having a place to keep them in a somewhat orderly (engineering like) manner. My hobby got started in 1995 as a student at Tech out of a fairly innocent search for a "pro-quality" Michigan Tech jersey that I could wear to games. After asking at the rink proshop if I could order an "on ice" jersey from the manufacturer, it was suggested that I speak to the team as they likely had some old ones they were no longer using.

Even back then a pro-quality jersey cost several hundred dollars. What the NHL charges for a mass produced "authentic" today is just sick and you can rarely even find that type of quality for a college team. Anyway, I thought it was really cool that I could get an actual game jersey AND help my college budget by actually spending less by buying a used jersey. Even after 750+ jerseys I still enjoy trading with fans of other teams. College hockey fans as a group really are great compared to pro hockey fans and through those introductions some eventually lead to me adding a new style to the collection.

This image was taken many years ago. I've added three additional racks since then.

Wow. I can't even imagine having the money to get all those. lol

I'd love to get my mitts on a UAH jersey one day.

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

Interesting, its a small world. He is the son of Rocky Thompson - former NHLer and also NHL assistant coach who is now the head coach of the Windsor Spitfires where I live. If he has his father's work ethic and tenacity.... will be a great addition!

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

When should we expect to see season ticket order forms?

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

2016-2017 roster is up on the UAH Athletics website. No Nelson Gadoury, at least as of now. All scholarship players are coming back. 16 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goalies. Good depth.

Led by Max Mchugh, hopefully we can continue our upward trend offensively, and maybe take a bigger jump this year. Will certainly miss Chad Brears, but hopefully young players like Jetlan Houcher and Brandon Salerno can step-up and fill that void. Lot of potential with this group.

I think D should be as good or better than last year. Misuraca's presence back there is going to be difficult to replace, but the continued development of Gosselin and Knight ought to raise the bar for the entire group.

In goal, will be interesting to see if Carmine can regain his sophomore year form. If not, I expect we'll see a lot of LaRose.

10+ wins should be attainable. The Herd needs to show that the program is still trending upward; with potential conference realignment on the horizon, we've got to be competitive.

Re: UAH Hockey 2015-16: The next step

Rotenberger, Wood, and Wunder were committed to coming, and as both are 96s, they won't be here (at least not for four years as scholarship players). I wasn't terribly excited about a kid —*Georgia-born or no — being 5'8" and the most-penalized player in the NAHL trying to break Shane Stewart's record.

It looks like I'll have time next week to talk to our coaches and the players' former coaches next week. Hooray for working weekends.
