UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

Re: UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

Okay guys... sorry for being so slow posting banquet pics... just too busy.
We begin with the introduction of next years Captain and Assistants...

Here outgoing Captain Doug Reid passes the title to #10 Brent Fletcher while outgoing Assistant Captain Craig Peirce is
surrounded by incoming Assistants Frank Misuraca and Chad Brears.

I kinda want to go to that, but we're getting married in Aug-Sep, and I won't have money for Grand Forks after going to Iceland.

Re: UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

Bold prediction: UAH 11-13-4/28, #5 seed in 2015-16, and maybe they make The Run.

That's only a three win increase, I'm not predicting but hoping for a .500 season next year on the order of 12-13 wins & losses with the rest being ties. It won't take much increased production to turn 3-5 of those one goal games we had this year our way. Another "Max" on the team and some of those games would have been ours. Just saying... a little more production turns some ties into wins and some one-goal losses into ties... of course some really tough NC games could blow that up but will be valuable experience for the young team.

Is the Blue Crew Fan Favorite Award a new thing or have I just missed it before? I LOVE this.

That Carmine coat, though.

Geof's prediction is WCHA only, so it would be a four-win increase. A 13-win WCHA slate at .500 would be 13-13-2 (and a six-win improvement) -- I'd LOVE that, but I'd take 13 wins overall whether it's .500 or not.

If that tentative North Dakota schedule is true and we're going to Grand Forks -- there's your big experience-builder. UConn, which is reported to come to Huntsville, finished ninth in Hockey East -- that's winnable.

Now I can't wait for the schedule to come out. Should be in the next few weeks!

Going from seven WCHA wins to eleven will be difficult. We're moving out of the basement to the muddled middle. I mean, at one point coming out of the LSSU roadie, I was thinking that UAH had an unrealistic shot at home ice ... until the Ferris debacle ...

Also, I figure that Saulnier might figure it out over the summer. Missing that playoff game against Tech had to send a message. He has the hands. I think that he plays that style of game because he's so darn small that he needed to do that to get some space to work. But dang, son.

Re: UAH Hockey 2014-15: The 30th Varsity Season

Heck yeah.

I am concerned with the distribution with 12 home games before New Year's, but I'm not sure what can be done about these things. The WCHA schedule is split as it can be with four series at home before New Year's and three after (it was three-four last season). Most non-conference is in the first half, and the fact we have TWO non-conference series at home -- I'll take it.

When it comes down to it, we need to not worry about football and take care of business the best we can.

(That said, if the Iron Bowl could start at 2 p.m. instead of prime time, I'd really appreciate it. ;) )
