UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

You can make your comments, but I'm proud to have been part of it. There's a lot of terrific hockey fans in the great state if Alabama that are every bit as knowledgeable and passionate as those up north.
I've always been impressed by McCabe, wouldn't mind if he ended up in Huntsville.

Little more info on carlson, he played forward majority of the time in dubuque. Played 12 to 15 at defense during the year. Versitile, can play pretty much any style needed. He's actually 6'2" and 215 pounds and skates well. Physical player plays with a edgy nasty streak but not over the top. Thinks the game well and will stand up for his teamates at anytime. Probably the most popular player in dubuque huge fan favorite . Great kid off the ice, has his head on straight. He will be missed in dubuque, loved watching him play this last year, will bring a confidant positive attitude to Huntsville. Ive talked to him a couple of times after games and he could not have been nicer to my family and to me. I wish him the best of luck, Huntsville you're getting a great kid.

Two is "many?"

To clarify, I really haven't "voted" for anyone, mainly because I have no idea who the candidates are. My post was simply that McCabe is a known entity to me, have been impressed by him, and wouldn't be disappointed if he landed the job. But until all the candidates who have applied/expressed interest have been made known, hard to make any call who the "right" person is.

Pink Pony has a habit of stretching the truth and twisting what other people say to try and support his/her statements.

Hire Steve Shields, second most wins in college hockey.

He must know how to win give him call.

I think Steve could use some more experience as a full time paid assistant, but I do think he has what it takes to be a good college head coach one day. I would not be surprised if his résumé is on EJ Brophy's desk. If he doesn't become a candidate for the head coach position, whoever does get the job is missing out if they don't consider him as an associate head coach or assistant position.

Now that UAH is swimming with the WCHA I believe they will find a quality coach. If UAH decided to invest in their program this job would be even more desirable. Great weather and play hockey? Bummer.

What's this "If"?

GFM <— still not saying anything, but got an email that made him laugh today.

IMO, UAH has every chance to be a WCHA power on a consistent basis. I guess I shouldn't have said "if" because I was comparing UAH to UMD, SCSU and BSU. All the schools mentioned have really spent a lot of money lately on their program.

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

I would say no on Gwoz coming back to the WCHA. According to accounts, he was one of the leaders in the formation of the NCHC. I think his ego would get in the way.

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

UAH has all the opportunity in the world to be a WCHA power house with the right coach and approach. Warm weather, good arena and facility, good fan support (should have it now anyways)... oh yeah, did I mention the weather already? Where would you rather play all things being equal? Huntsville or LSSU? Northern Michigan? Alaska (x2)? BGSU? FSU? Call me crazy but I think the list of coaches interested in this job will be better then most think and with the right staff and recruiting UAH could be a dangerous program!
