Thanks for the info. That is quite surprising after all that we have heard for months. I suppose that it might have been going to be 7-2 or 8-1, but the others decided to go along for league solidarity and not to incur UAH's wrath for future games.
Now we all get to look forward to all the crappy WCHA officials. Some of the crap will move to the NCHC, but there is enough dung to spread around two conferences.![]()
Hopefully we don't get any CCHA officials....they're far worse that any in the WCHA.
Congrats to UAH!
Cheers for the Chargers until they play the Pioneers again.![]()
I'd say welcome, but the nWCHA doesn't really exist yet. Still....I'm very pleased that a lot of kids from northern Michigan and MN will get to go to Alabama in the middle of the winter.
Not sure if the kids in AL feel the same way about coming up north.
I would think 28 league games, and 6-10 NC games (8-10 for all the non-Alaska schools since pretty much everyone's guaranteed a trip to The Final Frontier, possibly two since I'd assume they would be in the same pairing, and 6 for the Alaska schools). I wonder if, with the advent of the nWCHA, we will see a third Alaska tournament (possibly at a "neutral site" in Juneau), or just regular home series? Obviously the Alaska teams aren't going to travel for a NC game, since I'm sure everyone would like those extra two games.
We would've seen you in Huntsville this season without Portera scuppering the program last October.

Whom else might we have seen? Or is it all just too sad to contemplate with the resurrected, rearranged and reassembled schedule for this season? I was surprised that PennState couldn't find a way to come down. A home-and-away as independents this season would have been nice.
Has UAH every had any trips South to play hockey? I think they always depart in the same general direction for road trips, much like the Alaska teams. Not sure if the kids in AL feel the same way about coming up north.
Happy for you guys! This makes a little more sense than the AHA, but I was hoping you would take UConn's place if need be.
UAH needed coffee with their biscuits?

HA! Nice.

Generalizing, I've always thought the WCHA officials are some of the best who've come to Huntsville, with a "let 'em play" approach. The ECAC officials have been the worst, calling what they think happened rather than what they actually saw. The phantom trip is their worst call. The CCHA officials fall somewhere in between. The WCHA exception was this guy. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2008/01/24_schmidt.php He visited Huntsville while in training to be a WCHA ref. While I don't remember the details, I remembered the name because it was the worst performance I've ever witnessed. I had to laugh when I Googled his name and found the article. Now we all get to look forward to all the crappy WCHA officials. Some of the crap will move to the NCHC, but there is enough dung to spread around two conferences.![]()
