UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

remarkable restraint for what? We knew the vote would be today, thats all he's saying.
Congrats to UAH, I'm excited for my first "roadtrip" to Huntsville!

They could've held the vote at a later date; media reports as late as yesterday were uncertain on it. But we'd been told last week that they wouldn't wait around to make a decision, and furthermore that one AD was pushing for us to be admitted for next season if admitted. The latter seemed iffy to me, but it is indeed what we got.

Great news for all UAH fans. Congrats. Hope this is the beginning of many good things to come fir your program.

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

Congrats to UAH! Jim Harris did some very good lobbying from Hockey Heaven! This is great for UAH and all of college hockey! Congrats UAH and Thank You WCHA!

Welcome, Huntsville. This is the best news of the day; now, let's see how you handle a road trip to Fairbanks when it's 40 below zero. :D

It was iffy for sure because of scheduling. But it benefits the WCHA to help UAH build back to a credible level faster and allowing them a full conference schedule will help to expedite that process. It will cause a schedule hole at NMU because UAH was on the non-conference schedule. But overall, it's a good thing for college hockey!

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

This is the best feel good story in college hockey this season, IMHO.

I'm glad that Dean Blais and Trev Alberts felt so strongly about scheduling UAH, said so publicly, and did these past three seasons. We were in the same boat as UAH for two seasons and while our situation was nowhere near as tenuous then as yours has been, being an independent is tough when you're all alone.

I hope we play you again, in Huntsville, soon. My closest friend lives in Birmingham and this just gives me and the missus another excuse to go down there.

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

Congrats to UAH! I might have to make a trip over to Huntsville one of these days ... maybe when BSU comes to town would be good timing.
(Although I would prefer a Niagara v UAH game. Maybe one of these years, eh?) Very glad for all you guys ... GFM, Douglas, Terry, etc.

Re: UAH Hockey 2012-13: Still breathing

Congrats to UAH and best of luck in WCHA! :)

By the by, the Chargers have made those frozen mid-winter trips to Fairbanks before, along with Anchorage, when all three schools were D-I independents in the early 1990s. Let the Alabama-Alaska rivalries renew ...

I sure he had help from Paul Brand and John Wright.
