UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Great to see another former Gladiator back in the NHL. As for Jared taking on Chara ... I could see Chara going out with a knee injury after Jared lands a haymaker. :D ;)

I see it more like this. Chara goes to throw a punch and Jared skates between his legs. This happens a few times until Chara gets dizzy from twisting to keep up with Jared that he falls down. :D

It must be a Friday at work.......

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

...BTW, thought I would pop in here since AHA does not have a thread going and all the talk on the RIT thread is about styrofoam peanuts ... exciting stuff, eh?
Dan, you're always welcome here... how else are you going to keep up your scouting for the Glads? :D

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Hey, you see these guys every game ... feed me info! :)

Doug - have you heard anything about the Finnish d-man that just committed to UAH? How do the Chargers scout these players from Finland?

With the promise of actually getting to see the Sun during winter, and some of those wholesome, Alabama girls. ;) :D

You posted at 5:17 am!?!? Is that early or late... nevermind. :D

Only that they thought he was good and they wanted him. Mostly they get leads thru other players and coaches. Without going over there they can get videos of players (game films) sent to them that they can watch to help make decisions. Then the calls begin... When you get a few players over here, they tell their coaches about other players they think are good and would like to come here and play, and hopefully go to school, and if that coach doesn't need that type of player he passes the word around. The BIG schools can actually go over there but most recruit the same way.

Thanks Douglas.

Any word from Coaches' Convention re schedule for next year or UAH getting accepted in to CCHA later on?

So Uusivirta committed. I saw him at the 2010 NCAA selection show with Matti, but did not speak to him at all.

Hey Geoff,
Just read the huskyhockeyfan quote that the CCHA voted UAH out again, dated 4/30/2010, have you heard anything about this?

No. Link?

Okay, he's gonna need a nickname, and fast. Can you imagine what Ross would do to that name? Remember when he spelled Dave Nicoletti's name on the back of his jersey Nicolete? Makes me laugh just thinking about it...:D :D

It's from the comment thread on the CCHA's new playoff format. I believe that particular poster was referring to the initial application. To my knowledge the issue of UAH's application to the CCHA has not been brought up for reconsideration by the league.

1. I vote Goose.

2. I really love how, after four years, Doug kept calling Joel Bresciani "Bres-kee-annie", rather than "Bresh-ee-ah-nee". FOUR YEARS!

That's my understanding as well. A formal application, or a reconsideration of the previous one, would quite likely have been publicly commented upon by Anastos after a vote by the schools. Likewise, if it had been an issue, I think I would have heard from Danton by now.

More seriously, I hope Matti's decision to leave doesn't affect Uusivirta's decision to come to UAH.

Given that Goose is listed as committed after it was public knowledge that Matti was leaving, I don't think it's an issue. To wit: I didn't know the kid's name until I saw it on Heisenberg's site. :)

1. I can live with Goose but I'll bet we don't get to "nick-name" him... the coaches and/or the other players will end up calling him something other than his given surname. And you can take that to the bank!!:D

2. What about Dwayne Blais (pronounced "Blah"). Ross called him Blaze for four years... though I must admit, I liked Blaze better.

A. I'm gonna pre-empt that, man. ;)

B. Pretty much everyone in the student body called him Blaze. That or Moose.
