UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Dude calm down. No need to talk to me like I'm incompetent and be an *** about things. I completely understand what you're saying. I didn't mean there wasn't a good time to jump to DI. What I meant was that since UAH already has a DI program in place and has for awhile, they would understandably be ****ed off if the CCHA accepts PSU over them. I'm not knocking PSU at all. Great school, great athletics, they would do great (eventually) in DI hockey, men's and women's. I'm just looking at this from a UAH fan's point of view. And how UAH is more ready to compete NOW rather than in several years like PSU would more than likely be.

Well, see - you're talking about two seperate things. You said that PSU wouldn't be capable of elevating to D-I varsity and being competitive (specifically citing your experience with the women's club team), but apparently you're just upset about the CCHA potentially accepting PSU's men's team. Glad that was clear from the beginning

One year to the day.

I won't name my sources, but I stand behind what I wrote, both on the UAH side of things and on what I've heard from CCHA folks. I am, admittedly, just a dude on the Internet with a blog, but it's up to you to decide whether I have any credibility or not.

If the PSU thing comes across, holy hell ... there aren't enough censors on the USCHO forum for the venom I'd unleash, and I'd probably get banned. Be worth it, though.

Good read but it doesn't change the fact that I still hate Huntsville. ;)

Sorry if I wasn't clear in the first place, but you need to chill out a bit dude. Just a friendly discussion.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

I'm not crazy. I know that PSU is a cosmetically better choice. I would just consider it a huge slap in the face to UAH. A PSU women's program would do great in the CHA. And I've talked about OSU leaving the WCHA for the CHA in other threads. It would make their road to the NCAA's a bit easier that's for sure, but I can't see it happening any time soon, honestly.

Geeze ppl are cross checking cammie in here today. I agree it's a huge slap in the face to UAH. But in reinforces the point that many in academics don't like- college sports esp at the DI level is big business! Business wise it makes sense the CCHA wants PSU more than UAH and it is a slap in the face they didn't take UAH when there wasnt all the PSU rumors/talk.

Eh, I'm a goalie. I can take a whack every now and again. lol.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

You know, all of a sudden the 2013 and 2014 frozen fours make sense...

You've posted this (or something like it) on several threads. The NCAA bids are apples and oranges to the Penn State situation.

Robert Morris is the driving force behind the Pittsburgh bid. Believe me, the only thing PSU remotely had to do with that is the fact that RMU and Dear Old State have the same school colors.

The Philly bid was backed (not led) by ECAC. Penn State has no involvement there, either.

The awards were on their own merit. The only thing that makes it seem suspicious is timing.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Not people, just one rather arrogant person, UAH fans knew exactly what she was saying/implying...
Rock-on Cammie! :D

Thank you sir. I tried to be clear with what I said, but it's a complicated subject so I probably wasn't as concise as I could've been.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Head Coach Chris Louongo has his two new Assistant Coaches on staff and preparing for this upcoming season. The first Assistant Coach is Mike Warde and the second Assistant Coach is Gavin Morgan. I'm sure Geof will publish their resumes/histories soon.

A big WELCOME to the UAH family guys!!!

Good to hear, we're looking forward to it.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

If this is the same Gavin Morgan who is a DU Alum, I know a little about him.

Here is his career stats at the Internet Hockey Database.

I just gave away most of my DU media guides otherwise I could've copied over his bio. Sorry.

If this is not the same (not that I know any other Gavin Morgan), forgive me.

Same guy. :) It's my understanding that he was looking at volunteering with DU when Coach Luongo got in touch.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Gavin Morgan's bio from Legends of Hockey. There is an error in it in that Denver is in the WCHA not the CCHA. He did get 6 games in the NHL in '03/04 with the Dallas Stars.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

From USHR:
Luongo Picks His Assistants

Newly-minted University of Alabama-Huntsville head coach Chris Luongo has picked his assistants for the upcoming season.

Mike Warde, who was the chief recruiter at West Point for four years before going into the health care industry, is back in the college game. He'll be the recruiting coordinator on Luongo's staff, and will also work with special teams.

Gavin Morgan, a forward at Denver in the late ‘90s who went on to an 11-year pro career, will also be coming on as an assistant.

"I am confident that not only will our players learn from our newest staff members but I look forward to gaining knowledge from them about the game of hockey," said Luongo, in what we would say is a modest and gracious statement from a man who played four years on Michigan State's powerhouse teams of the mid-to-late ‘80s before going on to play 218 NHL games before getting into coaching as an assistant a few years ago.
