UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

We got our season tickets' bill on Fri.

Seat selection associated with VBC seating changes will be at a "meet the team" event at the VBC on Thu. 9/9 at 19:00.

I am curious to see what will be available. I've had some folks in Athletics describe the changes, but I haven't seen them on a chart. The biggest potential change that I've heard is that the boys might switch benches so they can shoot on the east goal twice. The issue, of course, would be that the visitors would have to skate in front of the Chargers' bench. Not quite sure how well that would work.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

I haven't seen the changes for myself, but I do know that there is a lot more handicapped seating in the arena. Box 13 & 14 are completely gone. Also, the arena no longer goes by boxes and mezzanines. The lower bowl is now 200 level and the upper bowl is now 300 level. And no more odd/even, just straight numerical order around the arena. Some sections of the lower bowl also lost their top rows to handicapped seating. I know for the Havoc we have end risers on the end of the rink where box 23 & 24 were I believe. I'm assuming those end risers will be there for UAH hockey too.

Sadly, there's really not a good place. The UAH Bookstore is really the main place, and that's generally a pain.

You can get game-worn and customized jerseys, though.

Speaking of this, we've not heard from you in a long time about our jersey requests. I figured the delay was a combination of people changing jobs and the general dregs of summer, but it's getting close to the season and we'd like to have them for opening night.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

UAH Hockey now has a third assistant coach, Tim Flynn. I met him while doing the "headshots" for this years players and coaches. I didn't get a chance to sit and chat with him so I don't know if he is paid or a volunteer but my assumption is that he is a volunteer as all previous "third" assistant coaches have been in the past.

Welcome to Charger Hockey Tim Flynn!!!

As for the on-campus Bookstore, I haven't found it to be much of a hassle to get to or buy from when it comes to UAH branded clothing including all sports. At games they usually have tables set up with hockey related as well as general UAH merchandise and clothing.

I need to email everyone, and I will tonight after I talk about it again with Coach. I'm afraid it's not going to happen for opening night, as the jersey provider has already asked the school for the drop-dead date on the new jerseys for this year's team.

I just want to let everyone know that Geof shipped me to Colorado a game worn jersey and it is AWESOME! I would love to get another, but no go with a new house and new baby on the way.

I'll wear it whenever it gets cold, whenever I get a chance to head to Huntsville this season and for certain when I see UAH play CC in the Springs.

BTW, Coach Lou just emailed me to get your address. Anyone buying a game-worn gets a donation receipt for tax purposes. The cost of the jersey is deducted, so you don't get the full value, but it's nothing to shake a stick in write-off terms.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

Is it time for a regular season thread? We're five weeks from puck drop.

Speaking of upcoming events: Meet the Chargers next Thursday night at the VBC. Season Ticket holders will get to pick new seats, as the VBC arena renovations will necessitate that people move. The general public is, of course, invited.

Perhaps the new Blue Line Club president will have a table at the event to drum up memberships.

Here are some questions for someone "in the know".
1. The "Season Subscriber Renewal Form" sent to previous season ticket holders does not have an address for return purposes and did not have a return envelope. Does this imply that no action is expected until Thu. night?
2. According to the new seating chart sent to previous season ticket holders, relatively few seats are actually being removed. The major change is just renumbering the seats. If your seat still exists, will retaining it be a simple matter or is major reshuffling and confusion planned?
3. What will the "pick new seats" process be?

Perhaps he should. And maybe he should have a big blue name tag so people will know he's the BLC president.

I haven't found someone/anyone "in the know" yet!!! But, you had better attend to get your shot at seats. Ours have disappeared. I "believe" there is somewhat of a priority to be used based on your past support...???

Every row has lost at least one seat as the new seats are larger so technically, each and every row is now different than before. With that in mind, a previous row of say 14 seats, all sold, no longer exists since that row now contains 13 seats. You can argue which end the seat was removed from but in any case the previous row seat sales is no longer valid. Who loses? The person on the high numbered end with three seats who now has only two? The person on the low numbered end? If you were in Box 12 before, your seats don't exist since there is no Box 12 anymore as all of the boxes have been renumbered into the 200's for the lower bowl.

Is there a physical seat in the top row, 4th position from the left of the section that was formerly Box 12? Yes there is; but is it the same seat as before??? Now that's the question... That's why I plan to be there and see how this is going to work. Personally, I have felt that I had the best 7 seats in the house, and I've had them nearly 30 years and while my seats still physically exist, they are now part of the new "skybox" or whatever they are calling those new corporate boxes. Do I feel screwed by the VBC? You bet!!! But, I guess I'll see where I stand in the hierarchy of supporters come Sep 9th...

That's exactly why it would be advisable for the "process" to be disseminated before Thu.

Re: UAH Dog Days of Summer 2010: All By Myself....

I tried calling earlier today to see if I can "assign" someone else to pick out my seats. Being about 1000 miles away it wont be easy for me to make it next Thursday. Was unable to get an answer, but was promised a callback. I guess I can always just call next Friday and talk with them and have them pick out next best available.

Yes, yes, and I don't know.

I don't know about all that, now.

I can ask, but I can tell you that the coaching staff doesn't know. If they did, I'm sure that Douglas and I would have gotten that information last night.

The number provided will probably only give you a recorded message. Speaking to a real person at the VBC over the phone is pretty much impossible.
