UAA @ SCSU: Well Look What We Have Here....

Congrats to SCS for the comprehensive sweep of the Woofies and the MacNaughton Cup. This long time Seawolf fan will be cheering you on next week in the FF. Would love to see you guys win the Broadmoor Trophy, too, and make a good run in the NCAAs. A fresh alternative...

Most fan bases have their share of jerks, for sure. True fans know that these random jerks are only that and don’t represent the majority of the fan base. It would be great if all the discussion on these threads would be constructive and non-insulting. Unfortunately, it seems that the share of jerkiness allotted to our fan base was not evenly distributed…

After 25+ years of holding season tickets and attending dang near every UAA home game, I am done. I can no longer support this program until BOTH the coach and AD are replaced. As a UAA graduate degree alumnus, I have provided modest financial support to the school for many years. That, too, is ended until things change. Spending millions on a new, on-campus arena without ice is asinine. The administration will receive a letter with my (not) season ticket renewal stating the reasons. Things need to change dramatically. It is painful to see what this once-proud and competitive hockey program has become under the current athletic administration.
I wont pretend to know about UAA hockey. I will say from reading Doyle Woody's article, I think the public opinion will get Shyiak out of there. As an SCSU fan, I don't get the hate from some of the UAA and MTU and NMU fans. When I thought SCSU was going to be in the nWCHA, I viewed it as an opportunity to make the tourney every year. I don't understand why the UAA, MTU, and other perennial lower-half teams don't view this as a better chance to have sustained success.

Anyway, I hope to see UAA in the NCAA tourney in the next 4 years. Their fans sure as hell deserve it.

After a brief lull, Motzko went out to center ice and lifted the Cup high to a huge rousing cheer from the fans. Couldn't help think that he had always wanted to do that during the years he played for St. Cloud years ago.
I'm not saying he didn't want to lift the Cup years ago, but it would have been an odd wish considering Bob never played in the WCHA.

:)

I never claimed that my thoughts (or some of my posts, for that matter) were logical.;)

Fun to watch Thor score that "unassisted" goal in the third period. It was all pure hustle.

Thank goodness this horrid season is OVER. Now the University can get started on FINDING A NEW COACH for next season!!

I really hope the Seawolves find some success in the future of the nWCHA. I became a Huskies fan 1991 when I went to my first game as a 6th grader, and as I followed them more I started to take a liking to UAA also. It's probably all the years I spent as a Twins fan in the late 90's, or as a fan of Minnesota sports teams in general, but I always like to follow and cheer for the underdogs. I hope your school can make the right choices to get the program on a good track. They're one of 2 or 3 teams I'll be rooting for in that conference.

Re: UAA @ SCSU: Well Look What We Have Here....

Well reading Doyle Woody's articles of late(especially today in Anchorage Daily News), and the numbers don't lie. it looks like an obituary column for the hockey program in the current state it is. Something will have to change, you would think....Sooner or later. the AD will have to make changes. and maybe too he is on the hot seat???

FHP...I wish he was on the hot seat but the lad pads his stats with a Cross-Country and Track and Field team full of Kenyans. It appears he's invincible! Something big is amok with this program...arguably the best high school player in Anchorage (perhaps the state) verbally committed to UA_. A huge slap in the face to UAA.
