UAA at Tech 2/8 - 2/9: Are there ponies at Winter Carnival? I heard there were ponies

Re: UAA at Tech 2/8 - 2/9: Are there ponies at Winter Carnival? I heard there were po

I'm sure you're not calling UAA hacks, are you? ;)

Not as a team, mostly just #18 (stickwork which he was called for) and #37 (mouthwork that he got away with so far), but I was sad about the retaliation, I think it was the tying goal that was on an unnecessary PP. All in all, UAA as a team simply put in the effort it took to win. The other team stunk up the place after the first period.

Yeah, not a big fan of #18, our team captain. If he weren't so lazy he wouldn't be taking stick penalties and maybe he'd actually have a goal or two. He's played 27 games and has zero goals and only 3 assists. Not impressed and he's a senior. #37 has not struck me as mouthy ... maybe he was just giving it as good as he was getting?

Hopefully the UAA players rest up and are feeling better tomorrow. Shyiak, Kwas and Haider all mentioned that half the team was sick and many of them shouldn't have even been on the ice tonight.

Mark my words. Tech will be contending for the McNaughton Cup next year. There's too much talent and Mel is too good a coach for it not to happen.

Tech, BGSU, and Mankato are my very early picks for next year.

Still, I'm sure this loss will sting.

The nWCHA is going to be a whole new ball game and will be very difficult to predict.

I agree with fade. I've never been more disgusted, so many turnovers, and such total non caring by our team. Throwing the puck away over and over is sickening. I doubt I will even listen tomorrow night.
Mel has got to find some players who want to play. With teams of equal talent, it boils down to who wants to win more and UAA wanted it more last night.

GLI was the highlight of this season. I don't see the Huskies finishing over 500...

UAA was very hungry, they've had a tough season with a lot of ties and one goal losses. What is so amazing is many players are sick with flu like symptoms. I'm glad the game didn't go into overtime because I don't know if they would have had the stamina for that.

Probably... and it's not a bad thing on his part, drawing our hotheads into penalties... it worked.

hm. For some reason this doesn't make it feel better.

And what's up with the pink horse fetish people? Is that the big thing in Alaska?

I probably really don't want to know what any of that means... but being a hockey fan really isn't working out for me, so maybe I'll have to look into these ponies for a new hobby. :p

This pretty much sums up anyone listening to the Friday game following the third period...

That was a genuine question. Normally (at least in my memory) doesn't MTU usually have Carnival opponents that are high in the standings? Is UAA not dead last of twelve teams?
Was looking through the Program at the game and saw a stat that Mich Tech beat St Cloud 19-0.

Saw the team at the hotel this morning, everybody was up beat, lots of smiles, and nobody look under the weather. So will be at the game cheering on the Seawolves. All the fans I talked to were very nice and I an enjoying the road trip the the UP so far. Go SeaWolves

Good, hope they are indeed feeling better. How many UAA fans were at the game last night? I could hear them cheering.

Tech hockey culture...

give it your half assed all

leave some of it on the ice

quit while you are ahead

Mel and the teams leadership are going to have a job going forward to slay that demon.

Feeling down? Just flew across 4 time zones? Won just one game all year? Half the team got the flu? Play a hockey game against Michigan Tech! It'll perk you right up! (You should ask your doctor if playing ice hockey against Michigan Tech is right for you. Side effects may include euphoria, padding your stats, and smiling well into the next morning)

Re: UAA at Tech 2/8 - 2/9: Are there ponies at Winter Carnival? I heard there were po

Having said that, Tech's biggest problem which was on full display last night was a simple lack of confidence. They were rushing passes, cringing away from hits that weren't even coming instead of using the space available to make a play (and they def. need to communicate better on the ice), rushing everything, giving up on plays WAY too soon.... A boost in the confidence level would go a long way right now. But who knows where it's going to come from.
That, and they apparently hate playing at home especially if there are actual fans there.
