UAA at Denver - Friday 11/21/11

Re: UAA at Denver - Friday 11/21/11

So they run the bike share PSA featuring Clayton, Juglish, Mahommet and Lonnie.

I am trying to get an update on Pickering from Bacher. I hope he will be ok.

Re: UAA at Denver - Friday 11/21/11

Yeah and remember this is the same conference where a referee has called a goal on replay where it was clearly not across the line. Call me a whiner, I don't care. I speak the truth.

Over time though and being on this board for years, it's the UAA contigent that keeps claiming that they are consistently screwed by the refs. Most everyone knows that WCHA refs tend to suck and most every WCHA fan has claimed their team has gotten screwed at some point. But, it is the UAA fan, over time, that keeps whining time and time again. Perhaps it's lack of success. Although, you guys whine 1000% more than Tech fans. I just don't get it. Maybe you are hanging out with Dunlap too much.

Not the score you want to see being down 2-1 but the Seawolves really turned in a nice period. The penalty kill was excellent. At times they're having some trouble 5 on 5 clearing the zone but are answering DU's offense with a solid cycle game that is creating chances.

UAA looks dangerous on transition and needs to find a way to create more chances going up the ice. Both teams are working hard in the neutral zone for possession though.

I haven't read any other comments but I'm guessing that Pickering will turn out to be mostly ok. He did sit up and looked willing to skate off before they put him on the backboard. I know that "HURT" though ... he was laying there clearly writhing at first.

Wow, DU has led or been tied in this game and never trailed. What an unusual experience. :D;):eek:

And it's consistently YOU and Old Pio who absolutely jump on any question about the refereeing and attempt to label it whining. In my book ... that make yous and him the whiners.

Man in the crease!

JJ, he was in the crease, but it didn't look like he interfered with Gundy. Didn't they change that "in the crease" rule a few years ago? A player can be there before the puck is, as long as he doesn't interfere with the goalie.

Hope you're right about the kid. Given the nature of head/neck injuries, trainer/emt types are trained and incllined to err on the side of being too concerned.

Agreed. UAA is looking great and certainly has a great chance in this game. I also saw Pickering sit up on the ice, so regardless of the injury, it is not life threatening and doesn't seem to be anything "life-altering". I sure hope he's OK though and hope he can play tomorrow. Should be a great and exciting 3rd.

We whine because we truly feel we have gotten screwed and feel it is part of our lack of success. It's not a stetch to say that most in this conference do not want us here. It's also a fact that many referees do not like to travel to Anchorage and that it has an effect on how they officiate. Contrast to Tech, a legacy part of the conference and is regarded as a fun place to travel by many referees. There is a lack of respect given to UAA and it effects on how the game is officiated, penalties that would given as a major are given as minors to other teams (case in point, last weekend Brad Gorham was given a major for CTH, next period a CC player cross checks Tommy Grant in the face and is given a minor).

I've said it for years, I still believe it, and I don't like being in this conference because of it.

Jumping on biatches that whine about refs ain't whining. Just calling a spade a spade. During the course of a season of banter with other fan bases, it's pretty rare when a discussion of the refs come up. Sans the UAA contingent. Find a post of mine where I blame the refs. Bet you can't. Find a post where JJ whines about the refs... See what I'm getting at bro?

From Bacher, Pickering was hit in the ear with the puck and has a possible concussion.
