Big Pappy should challenge Olympia for her senate seat. He probably would have a legitimate shot. He may even muster some votes on here.:D

Can I take back what I said last week about moving Mangene back to forward? He had a great weekend for himself back there. I really thought Flynn was by far the best player on the ice Saturday night. His speed and vision creates so much space for his teammates. Not only that, his backchecking and defensive zone work has been great, much better than I expected.

Big test on Friday night, excited for the game.

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

Mangene did have a solid offensive game on Frisday and Sturday and does his best work in offensive zone....given that, I still see the best place for him is up front, so he can press the opposing D all the time and then be a great "3rd" d on in the defensive zone.

This would allow O'connor to be back in and between him, Cornell and a more physical Nemec, we could hanlde the fron of the net, while allowing the offensive D (O'neil, Pryor and Hegs) to jump up

Diamond Flynn Abbott
Shemansky MANGENE Beattie
Anderson/ Anthoine Liedermark Swavely
Frosh Line

O'Neil Cornell Offensive/ Defensive
Hegs - Nemec Offensive/ Defensive
Pryor O'Connor Offensive/ Defensive

Sully - Slight edge right now

Matt Mangene co-player of the week in Hockey East. He had a great weekend. Also, congratulations to Riley Masters and the Maine X-country team. Riley won the America East title by running the course in record time. He has won the individual title the last two years. The team finished 3rd. Field Hockey defeats Vermont 4-0 on Senior Day and the football team wins again by defeating Villanova. Great weekend for UMaine sports.:)

Let me know when UMO defeats a .500 or above team on the road, which they haven't done since 2009-10. Next up is top ranked BC. You do the math:rolleyes::D:o

Oh know Nostri on USCHO, there goes the neighborhood. He got kicked off MBR.org as a troll and negative nellie for Umaine sports and he also predicted that no way Maine football could beat JMU, Villanova, Richmond so maybe he'll have the same luck w/ Maine Hockey:D

Hockey team cant win on the road. Not to be dismal, just a fact. As much as Big Pappy declares a Maine sweep next weekend, aint happening , what do you think ? :(

I kinda wonder why everybody jumps on Diamond for penalties (good or stupid) when there is someone else who has just about as many really stupid penalties this season... AND who has not drawn all the penalties that Joey has.

if you think about it, youw ill know who I am referring to, I hope.

and when was the last time that Timmy sewed a letter on the front of a bench warmer's jersey?
who does that?

(Duffy sat and wore an A, and Mush got canned and wore a C)
Mushaluk was awful...he was lucky just to be on the team...and I am not backing TW for that...Mushaluk was BAD.

Yes, you are correct.:o My excuse is that I saw the women lose to NU on Friday at the Alfond by the score of 3-2. I was really disappointed in the outcome of that game and tempered my enthusiasm. Maine never gave up and battled back from a 3-0 deficit in that game.

Whoa... So much for the Wings letting prospects simmer "until the meat falls off the bone"!

I hope he's ready to contribute, and he probably is. He was victimized by lousy college officiating while he played at Maine, but the NHL refs are actually quite consistent and professional, for the most part. That should help his game.

I usually watch very little pro hockey until the playoffs start, but I'll be tuning in tomorrow night, rooting for Gus and Jimmy.

Wrong again Priceless, as I can still go on mbr, I just choose not to because of crybaby's like yourself, so get your facts straight. Also, it's not because of being a negative nellie to UMO sports. If that were the case then Tom would look pretty foolish.

As for picking the games, JMU is the only one in which I didn't think UMO would win. The others I took the points (i.e. -20 @ Nova), and cashed in. In fact I've hit the spread in every UMO game except for the JMU game, which was a trick play to cover/win, so once again get your facts straight.

UMO hockey CAN'T win on the road, especially against .500 and above programs. And it's even worse in HE play going back several years. Good teams win on the road. It's not rocket science. Let me know when UMO achieves this obvious fact.

It ain't gonna be at BC, but a reeling UNH might be a possibility perhaps.

I won't disagree, but my point was that Tim the leader of young men, put a C on Mush's chest and it meant nothing.
The players had all the respect in the world for Jeff, but I do not see putting a C on a chest and then benching/cutting the player.

the C does not only mean leadership in the lockerroom and at practice, it also means that the player can speak with the officials. An effective coach will know how to use that to an advantage. God knows that the scarlet satan understands this.

Let's hope he stays and plays AND does well.
Detroit is in a 3 game losing streak, getting NO OFFENSE over two Conklin losses while Jimmy was (presumably) welcoming little Timmy Whitehead Howard into the fold, and then a 1-0 loss to Columbus with the new daddy in net.

detroit is shaking things up.
