TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Also gotta think that CC may be in full panic mode now that they're also losing Stewart.

Can't see them going for another relatively unknown as a host.
To add to that panic, South Park has what? 2-3 seasons left on their contract?

I don't have HBO, so haven't seen Oliver in his new gig.

It's outstanding. It's right up there with TDS and Colbert at their very best, and it's even smarter (plus it doesn't have to waste a third of the broadcast on whatever cumsponge has her new movie out).

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

I hope they get Oliver back. But, maybe there is someone entirely new out there we don't know about? Although somehow I doubt that given the train wreck SNL's Weekend Update is this season.

Any chance they take a risk and get the Egyptian guy who basically did the daily show over there before being banned? He has the Schlick down already, and he's presumably available.

Well, Justified took a nice little turn. I am LOVING Sam Elliot in the show, btw.

Sam Elliot bugs me in the show. It is not right that he doesn't have a stache. I can't keep from staring at his abomination of a bare upper lip.

Still, he falls under the Harry Dean Stanton principle: anything involving him cannot be a total loss.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Young Sam lacked a 'stache. It's the voice that sells.

I do miss the 'stache, but the demeanor, along with the voice, sells. He seems like the perfect gentleman...until he doesn't want to be that. And the subtle changes he makes, really makes his characters, this one included.

Oh, and the Americans...how many "super duper close calls" can these guys have? Backs up my feeling of only a season or two more. There has to be an endgame, or a complete change of major characters. Decent episode, but the clock is ticking right now overall. I really hope it doesn't become stale...

I've only seen a few episodes. My rooting for Truman's best friend is probably evidence of this.

So far, I've really really liked it (hence it being only one of a very small handful of shows I watch). However, it's shown hints of using cheap tricks (last week's hotel scene and this week's another close call) to retain viewers. IMO, there needs to be an endgame in the next season, and then if they want to continue, use Paige as the transition to a new overall storyline.

I was really thinking much the same. Brezhnev only just died in the show, so it's late 1982 or early 83, really at the height of the Cold War. I'm curious as to how fast the timeline will proceed from here on out, if they can do more than a year per season with the limitation of the children aging on screen.

How did you like the pliers scene?
