Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Finally got to this week's Saul.

Would have been an all-time witness meltdown if A Few Good Men didn't exist.

Still good though.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Friday night 10pm is death row.

Blue Bloods does very well in that slot. Of course, it's a CBS show, and that demographic is usually home watching TV on a Friday. I am sometimes. I dvr it. I love me some Tom Selleck. :)

It is a solid show...The Stache (Selleck) rules!

And I bet it's (relatively) cheap to produce and I bet CBS owns it.

And I've already seen a couple of righty Facebook posts about the "Hollywood liberal media shutting down good entertainment because it dares go against their agenda!"

No surprise. All those folks read from the same Drudge sheet of music, which Flag helpfully provides us every day.

That's where I first heard about it. Someone I know seems to share or like everything Ben Shapiro posts.

and I actually learned a useful life lesson from one of those shows: "when a man wants to apologize to another man, he asks for that man's help."

Why do I hear that line in Tom Selleck's voice? It sounds exactly like something from Blue Bloods.

I hear that line in 1958's voice.

If a self-important, emotionally constipated man wants to apologize to another self-important, emotionally constipated man he should ask him for help.

The rest of us just apologize.

FOAD, John Wayne.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Oh my god. New Rules is usually good, but that was one of the best lines in a while.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Oh my god. I almost forgot that one. I just told my roommate that one because she wanted to know what was so funny. She thoroughly enjoyed it.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

With David Lynch (made one of my favorite films ever Mulholland Drive) reviving Twin Peaks on Showtime this Spring I am finally watching Twin Peaks. Watched the pilot last night. Also have the Twin Peaks prequel movie recorded waiting for me to finish the original series.

SNL was great last night. Never heard of HAIM but very good. Spicey and Trump. Looking forward to Katy Perry and The Rock next week.

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

Season 1 is great...I stopped season 2 after like 4 episodes because it is awful. I didnt even watch the movie because no I know liked it. I plan to try again before the revival happens...

Exactly. Season 1 was amazing, first 5-6 episodes of season 2 were great, then a giant pile of crap up til the finale. Some call the hour long finale Lynch's greatest work, I'm not quite there.
I'm so ready for next Sunday!!!

Re: TV: The Golden Era Reborn

I've seen all 30 original episodes. I don't recall hating S2 as much as some do, though I'll agree it wanders a bit aimlessly after Lynch was forced to reveal the killer, and thus he lost interest in overseeing the show. I kinda felt like if I were to watch again, I'd just fast-forward through anything involving Donna and James. Things like Ben and Nadine losing their minds are comedy relief to me, and part of the "weirdness" of Twin Peaks, but I can see why some people wouldn't like those arcs. The show started to fix itself somewhere around Ep. 25, but it was too late at that point.

You're spot on. It did start to recover the last 5 or so.

Nadine and Bens story lines were hilarious. Donna and James was terrible. Also not a huge fan of windham Earle.

Really happy David Duchobvy is back for the new series. Notable people who aren't: Heather Graham, Michael Ontkean.

Pretty sure we won't be seeing Piper Laurie as Catherine either, which is a shame, but she is 85.
