Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I wasted two hours of my life on it, yes. No chance I'll be wasting a 3rd.

Yeah, it wasn't great, but I like mystery type stuff so i'll keep watching. Seemed like they took the smoke monster from Lost and dumped him in the middle of The Blair Witch Project.

And Lincoln's on again, off again American accent was disconcerting, and really takes you out of the scene and the character.

Interesting, I had heard good things about The River. Would you guys describe it as more mystery or horror/spooky? I'm a pretty huge wuss when it comes to that sort of thing, if it's more mysterious, I might give it a shot.

More of the latter with a little of the former thrown in.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I finally saw Sherlock at the behest of one of my friends and it was excellent. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Holmes as a manic type of person. (He's going to the voice of the Necromancer in The Hobbit films.) I think Martin Freeman was a very good Watson. (He'll be Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit.) Any one else seen Sherlock and if so what are your thoughts.

This! SO good. I ran across the it last April, and watched all three episodes through without stopping. Have the next three been released in the US yet? I've heard conflicting things about air dates, and haven't found them anywhere yet...

I've heard that the second three shows are going to be aired soon on PBS. I have been waiting for a resolution to that cliff-hanger for awhile myself.

Next 3 episodes will be on PBS May 6, 13, 20. Can't wait either. The wife is a fan now as well.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Started watching Freaks and Geeks with the wife and 13 year old boy. We've both seen the series twice (when it was on and a few years back) but it's new to him. He's not getting all of the subtleties, but he loved the first episode.

Quite possibly my favorite TV show of all time. They didn't do the high school experience that we wish we had, they did the one that we actually had. Love every part of it! So true and real that it almost hurts - in a really good way! :)

.

I watched it a few years ago. Great series. Wish it would have lasted a bit longer. Guess I would have liked to see it wrapped up rather than just ending. There was another series done shortly after called Undeclared. Its also a Judd Apatow series and quite good as well.

Both Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared are often listed among those shows that were cancelled too soon.

The new episode of The Walking Dead, after the extended mid-season hiatus, was pretty meh for me, until the last 10 minutes or so. It seemed like it was going nowhere, and just plodding along. I hope the way the episode ended is an indicator of what we'll see from the rest of the season.

I'm not as annoyed by The Walking Dead as most. I still find something to enjoy in the plodding nothingness that this season has been. All the same, those last 10 minutes were pretty **** good.

I actually like (and first liked) the show due to the character development. Never saw this as a zombie flick, more of a post apocalyptic survival story. That's why I like it, coz it's not just a zombie flick.

I realize that many have complained that there isn't enough zombie killing, but I haven't noticed it as a flaw. There's a constant watchfulness and uneasiness that to me is often more effective than seeing the gang mow down zombie after zombie.

I also like the direction that the show appears to be going with other people being at least an equal threat to the group as the zombies pose. Once law and order disappear, certain segments of society would become great dangers to the weak and vulnerable.

I was very uncomfortable during the ending segment as the tension built and Rick was completely bad-*** when he needed to be, which I loved.

Good news for the ones who want more zombies though - the producers are promising hoards in the last five eps.
