TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Sons of Anarchy: I feel like Tara is no longer a well defined character. I don't really get what her motivation would be to defend Gemma like that.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

People are watching Go On?

I've been watching it on Hulu when I have half an hour to kill...it's mildly funny, and Matthew Perry is a hockey fan, and the NHL references are fun. Jeremy Roenick was in last week's episode.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I watched two episodes and deleted the series from my DVR list. DOes it get any better or were they pretty much the same throughout? (Some series you need to get over the first couple episodes before you find the good stuff.)

I'd say that if you didn't like the first two, you probably won't like the rest. Like I said, definitely not a show for everyone.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I liked Whitney, but to me it is the type of show that should be on a cable station. The humor that they are going for just isn't going to fly on network TV, I remember think last season that they had to change things because the network didn't approve of the original way they went. I don't know what to make of the move to Friday, it might have been sent their to die, or it might become a DVR staple, but the target audience isn't the type to sit at home on Friday nights to watch TV.

Friday is where they all go to die. Fox did it with 'Til Death and I'm amazed Fringe survived another season on Friday. Not thrilled about the move to Friday because it will be tougher to DVR it with all the conflicts with hockey and Fringe. (been following Fringe for a while so I can't let that one go now.)

Good point about Whitney being a cable type show but I'm not sure if that would make much of a difference.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

In what way was Whitney a cable show? Are there any multi-cam comedies on cable outside of the former star purgatory of TV Land?

They were desperately trying to be a typical, classic network multi-cam show. It failed because the writing was hacky and awful. Allowing her endless of string of "jokes" about her vagina to be 10% raunchier on cable wouldn't have fixed anything, it would have made things worse. And the acting on that show was terrible for a multi-cam sitcom. As much as I despise Chuck Lorre's CBS shows, the actors on those shows know what they're doing in that medium, and make the show more entertaining to watch.

gah... Oh well. I thought it had promise when I first saw the previews. Didn't really like it. Maybe I'll give it another shot after a season or two is out.

I felt that the writers/creators for Whitney were to constrained by limits of being a network show, that if they had been on, for example, TBS instead, they would have had more latitude to go places that you just can't go on network TV. I think that the whole nature and premise of the show would have been different from inception.

That was actually Roenick? He was briefly in one of the promos and I thought it was him, but wasn't sure.

Yeah, that's the only episode I've seen of the show. It was definitely Roenick.

Son of a b*tch. My DVR can't seem to play the most recent Last Resort episode. It plays for about two seconds at a time and then freezes. I hit fast forward and it starts playing only to freeze after a second again. AUUUUUUGHHHHHH!!!!!!

I don't know about that. The amount of stuff they get away with on 2 Broke Girls always surprises me. I think it can be done with Whitney too.

You can probably watch it on ABC.com if you want to.

He can also try and see if it is on-demand for free, many TV shows are. At least then he can watch in HD on the TV.

Picked up the Suits Season 1 DVD, watched all 12 episodes in the last three days. Held up well to rewatching even through I know all the plot twists.

Looking forward to S4 of Sons; borrowing it from MNS. I plan to somehow get current and hopefully watch some of the current season's eps as they are aired.

As for the last ep in S3? Ho. Lee. Sh*. Awesome.

Re: TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

I'll watch it on On Demand when it's available (because of the HD reason). It's just frustrating when you get everything done for the night and sit down to watch it only to have it crap out.

From my experience the On Demand version is usually available the next day (Comcast), but yeah that does suck.
