TV Shows Part 8: Cancel THIS.

Hey, I love me a good sex scene, but it feels forced in the show, like they need it to sell the show. That's all.

In a way it should feel forced.... Mostly sex is used as a part of their cover - they are pretty much prostitutes that receive intel as opposed to money. Idk if Brent has frequented prostitutes or knows current/former prostitutes - most have to force themselves to do such deeds. And no I have never frequented a prostitute - just in a professional capacity. ;)

Are you saying it feels forced because it's not part of a spies life to get information or that they just don't need to show that portion of how spies would get information? Since > 90% of all the spy information I have is from Hollywood, using sex to get information is probably overblown, but it's still probably a reality at some level. It probably all depends on the spy's looks and other abilities to get people in the sack. With that in mind, Kerry Russell's character should be having a lot more sex on screen.

We're going to have to wait while GBG runs off and verifies his conclusions. You know... for Science.

To me, it's the show thinking, "Hm, we better put a sex scene or 3 in here, because that way people will stay interested; we dont have enough confidence in the story alone to get viewers." I mean, did we really need to see the general actually rip off Keri's pants last week? I think we could all safely assume he was gonna have his way with her. And the few second intro this week was really unneeded, because they showed the scene later anyways (and again, we could safely assume what happened).

The fact that it's on FX necessitates Kerry Russel's *** makes an appearance. It's in the network's by-laws or something.

And yeah, I can agree that allusions to these acts can often times be more beneficial to the storyline, but there's a significant number of guys out there who watch cable series for the very reason that the shows can push boundaries that broadcast networks can't, for better or worse. Add to that, FX has pretty much built its entire network around such antics, and the execs might be afraid that the show would fail without them to some degree or another. The Americans has been solid so far even without the bits of skin that have flashed, so perhaps the show will morph a bit if it's able to show a steady viewership down the road.

I hope so. I love it so far. This is just a minor gripe. Although I do agree that showing Keri's arse often would be pleasant, as long as it's not a disturbing scene, etc. :)

Honestly, nothing makes me more uncomfortable than rape scenes. Well, other than hemorrhoids maybe.

Person of Interest continues to be great. I just love Jimmi Simpson.
