Ya know I thought I was a jerk to my friends when they starting dating idiots...but man the guys at McLarens put me to SHAME! :D

The reaction to him being from Labrador was awesome :)

HIMYM last night was brilliant and I hadn't had any sandwiches yet.

I'm a huge fan of Community. hoping the last few episodes of the season are better than the majority of the season has been. If they can stretch it out past four seasons I'll be shocked.

The only reason I watch Outsourced is becasue I work with Indians. I've gotten to the point of asking myself how is it not cancelled yet

I stopped watching Outsourced. It had its moments, but really it feels like a missed opportunity. Instead of going for the broad "Gawrsh, everything's so DIFFERENT here!" humor (how many times would you eat street meat if it made you sick? and wouldn't you develop a tolerance?), plus the "let's have a conservative culture sell gag gifts that even debauched Americans find distasteful!" humor, they could have gone the other way.

Don't have the idiot American manager get together with the hot Australian (who is there for some inexplicable reason), instead actually explore the relationship with the engaged-to-be-arranged-married Indian. THAT is an interesting dynamic that would let the show have some heart, still have some dumb misunderstandings, and be moderately intelligent. Instead it seems like the pitch was "Imagine the Office, in India, but broader humor!"

Apparently it's based off the movie of the same name.

Seconded.

I don't think anyone has to ask why the Austrailian is there. Probably the only reason the show has survived this long. :D

You're right about the dynamics of the other relationship, but they seemed to progress her getting engaged a little too quickly. They definitely could have stretched it out and used that for a lot longer before getting to this point. Would have made it a little better because there would still be a little more "hope" they'd get together IMHO.

I've seen the movie. I liked it a lot. It starts off with the "fish out of water" situation, but the guy evolves to where he comes to like where he is and accept the differences between our cultures. The TV show has no place to go. If it evolves, it's not as funny. If it doesn't evolve, it's a one trick pony. And BTW, the female lead was engaged in the movie, too. She still slept with the guy.

And has anybody noticed the proliferation of hot British/Indian women on TV recently: Human Target, How I Met Your Mother, Royal Pains, Big Bang Theory...there's probably more, but I can't think of them off hand.

Californication: Love that that was actually Tommy Lee playing "Home Sweet Home" in the hotel bar. :D

Double post: Just got done watching the season premiere of No Reservations in Haiti. What an excellent, difficult, moving episode. Casts Sean Penn in an excellent light for the work he's doing there, too.

A fantastic hour of television.

What other show would try to do something charitable, have it blow up in their face, then have the guts to show how ugly it got on their own show?

Sketches where Miley Cyrus did not sing, dance, or play herself: 2 (Beastly parody, face cream/rockabilly commercial)
Good sketches where Miley Cyrus did not sing, dance, or play herself: 0

Sad that Billy Ray didn't show up, I always thought that sketch was meaner to him than it was to her.

Does anyone else think the sound mixing for SNL musical guests has been off lately? The vocals were almost lost under the guitars when the Strokes were playing.

Disagree. I liked the whole episode. The only sketch I didn't like so much was the Sound of Music one, and that was more because of Fred. She played herself in two sketches - the Beastly parody, which you just said you liked, and the Disney School of Acting, which was one of the funniest sketches of the night. Because it was so true. The Two Other Guys from the Black Eyed Peas sketch was very funny, and she was playing Fergie, so her caterwauling was called for. She also didn't play herself in the Miley Cyrus Show. Her Justin Beiber was amusing, though the smoky eye shadow and nail polish took away from it just a bit. The best part of the show, however, was the CBS parody. It's Gurney month!! We have Meredith Baxter-Birney! Where is she? On a gurney! Hee!

Is anybody else watching Idiot Abroad on the Science Channel? Excellent show. If you've missed it they are showing all the episodes on Sat.

Re: TV Shows 6: Abed and Troy in the Morning! Havvveeee you met Ted's Wife yet?

I didn't say I didn't like the episode. I observed that in just about every sketch, she either sang, or danced, or played herself. (All except one, if I was wrong and didn't realize at first that she was playing herself in the Beastly parody, which sucked.) I'm just saying, generally speaking when a host is someone who isn't really a comedian (especially the case with athletes or musicians who are crossing over into acting), I judge them in part based on how far out of their comfort zone they go, and I think they kept her squarely in her comfort zone.

I agree with you about the Disney and Black Eyed Peas sketches though.
