I do like the idea of giving the other characters plot arcs, but we've now had 3 different plot arcs involving him. It's "Dream On Starring Fozzy Bear."

BTW, who the heck is the huge bear? I don't recall him at all from the original Muppets. Was he added later in their run, or is he new?

The huge bear, whose name I also forget, isn't new. I think he was added during one of the early movies they made in the 80's.

ETA: He's Bobo the Bear.

ETA2: I was off on his start time, too. He first appeared in an episode of Muppets Tonight with guest star Cindy Crawford.

After three episodes, I'm shocked but Scream Queens is actually clever and funny. It shouldn't be; it should suck. But it is wickedly sharp at slicing the Achilles tendon of what I'd call "high school girl aspirational young adult woman" dramas. I'd be surprised if it makes it -- it's way too smart for the target demo; but it's possible that it might be so far over their head that they watch it ironically and keep it alive.

Also, Chanel #3 is really cute.

When did they "come out as pro-abortion"?

In regards to it being more adult, yes it's not a kid's show, but neither was the original Henson stuff way back when. And it's not exactly like they're going Avenue Q and banging each other. Newsflash people, just because something is animated or puppets doesn't mean you can drop your kids there and not bother reviewing it yourself.

As for the show itself, it's OK so far, some good jokes but it also hasn't been a home run. It seems like they're still finding their footing. I'll watch since there's nothing else on and mainly because it's on before Fresh Off The Boat. (Speaking of FotB, I haven't heard it discussed here, but that's a solid show. It's what Blackish would be if they had a good cast and writers who understood anything about subtlety.)

The dialog itself is pretty weak. The stuff that happens in the background and just barely in-frame is hilarious.

Obviously it was during Kermit's med school joke. The inference was dissection, and dissection is obviously a parallel to abortion, and given it was delivered as a joke means they're actually ok with it. Any non-(Pio's favorite insult) could see it!!!eleven!!!

But really, weren't the Muppets always the "adult" Sesame Street, with subtle jokes for the adults? Seems all they've done is made the jokes more outright since subtle comedy is too niche nowadays (i.e. Arrested Development).

Had a feeling it would end up being cancelled. It reeked of the comeback of "Pee Wee's Playhouse" when that tried to cater to the adults who watched the show as kids.

Started watching Heroes:Reborn, but have canceled my DVR subscription. Just not interested. Too bad, I really loved season 1 and had hoped for a strong return.

Surprised there's been no comments regarding the premiere of The Walking Dead last weekend. Very strong episode, IMO. If only for the ambitious aspect of the giant herd.

One weak point: The repercussions of Rick 'I don't take chances anymore' Grimes, and his subsequent taking of multiple chances, leading to the complete chaos we're about to witness.

American Horror Coven finished up quite nicely. A BIT heavy on the metaphor during the news interview in the finale, almost ruined it, but it recovered with the final scenes. Overall? Loved it.

I suppose many people have already noticed this and I'm late to the game....

For some reason, had a Law & Order re-run on last night. At the end of the show, I noticed that they now overlap the closing credits of one show with the opening credits of the next show, and also run both of them at additional speed (you can tell that the opening is run at faster speed partly by the higher pitch in the narrator's voice and by the faster tempo of the famous opening music; you can tell the closing is run at faster speed by how quickly the credits scroll past).

So by combining these two steps they squeeze in more time for commercials....

This has been going on for a number of years now when re-runs are broadcast. Like you said, you're late to the game.

I don't know if it's just openings either. i was watching a re-run of Supernatural sometime over the summer, and Jenson Ackles' voice sounded just a bit higher in pitch than it does on the current season's shows. Now, it could just be that his voice has gotten deeper over the years, since the re-run was from fairly early in the series, but I think it was more that they sped up the re-run slightly to have room for more commercials.

That might be true, because I don't remember the original airing as a Benny Hill parody.
