TV: Give Me That Remote!

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

It's been a while since I've watched The Walking Dead. It's still going to be a while, as I haven't bothered with tonight's premiere and since some point in S5 have decided that the show isn't really telling any new stories (just repeating old ones with new stakes) and is thus just an exercise in masochism.

But I did get curious enough to check twitter to see who dies. So there's that.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Curb is meh. Larry David is good in small quantities.

My Seinfeld hate comes from having twenty guys in my high school who looked, sounded and acted exactly like Jerry, believing themselves to be comedic geniuses. For a Long Islander the show is the equivalent of "you might be a redneck." What was funny the first twenty times is torture by the thousandth. I'm sure for the plebes west of Bayonne it was hysterical.

So then you hate Woody Allen even more then?

Which is precisely why I hated what they did with that new series. They blew their wad by something like episode six and I stopped watching.

I enjoy prequels on shows and movies like The Walking Dead. They just royally screwed it.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Curb and Seinfeld are shows I don't "hate" but I have zero interest because they are not funny. There may be the random line or two that make me laugh, but something about a blind squirrel.......

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Curb is meh? What is wrong with you? When's the last time you laughed out loud!?

Plenty of shows make me laugh out loud. Simpsons, South Park, Atlanta, The Good Place, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, Archer, Veep off the top of my head.

It is actually permissible for people to differ on the shows they like.

No, because I'm not from the Upper West Side.

Know your Jewography!

Woody Allen is every neurotic Jew...that you think he only applies to The Upper West Side means you dont know many Jews period :p

He pretty much sums up every Jew stereotype, no matter where you live. I agree.

That being said, never was into his movies.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Everybody's different. I love Seinfeld, Curb. But I also love South Park, Veep, etc. Woody Allen is one of the greatest film makers of all time. You put Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, and Woody on Hollywood Rushmore as your top 3. The rest of you can fight over the 4th.

To me, a Provo Mormon and a SLC Mormon seem alike. To them I'm sure there is a huge difference.

Allen and Seinfeld are completely different and they reflect the difference between Jews who go to Met openings and Jews who go to Mets games. 95% of the country doesn't get that but if you grew up there you can't miss it.
