Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Last Man on Earth is just not funny. It hasn't been interesting either since the first few episodes

Was crushed at how badly it sucked. I heart Kristen Schaal. She is the living embodiment of ugly se-xy.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Westworld:

I'm convinced that there are 2 timelines at this point, which is a complete 180 from about 3 episodes ago. I do think now that William is a younger version of The Man in Black. William and Logan are traveling with Dolores 30 years prior to the "current" timeline, right about the time when Dolore's build was brand new, which I'd say is shortly after they went to the "biological robots" as opposed to the older mechanical versions that Ford showed us in last night's episode. This 30 years ago would be 4-5 years after the incident with Arnold. Some evidence that I've seen is, first, Lawrence. The character he played with William and Logan appears, to me, to be an earlier version of his character than what he was during his time with The Man in Black. It also connects The Man in Black to Lawrence, if in fact William = Man in Black. The journey that William and Logan are on, is the maze, they just don't realize it, but, the maze is something that Arnold put into the park for the Hosts, not for the guests. So, Dolores is really the one that is going on the maze, which I believe is a path to complete AI for the Host, based on the story that Teddy told the Man in Black. Dolores already went through it once, and was subsequently wiped clean. Now, she is doing the same thing again, following her footprints from 30 years prior, and seeing herself (like during the Day of the Dead parade) and remembering, because that is what Lowe instructed her to do. One piece of evidence for this: the scene late in the episode 2 weeks ago, with Dolores on the train, looking at the casket with the maze on it. It goes from showing William and Lawrence, sitting down in the train, to showing Dolores walk to the casket, when they show Dolores by the casket, William and Lawrence are no longer sitting where they were. In that brief change from William to Dolores, it went from the 3 of them 30 years ago, to Dolores in current time, following the same path. In current time, Teddy and The Man in Black are currently following Dolores.

The intrigue with Arnold from last night's episode is hard to place. I am not sure what is going on there. Is Arnold alive, and has been hiding in the park for 34 years? I can't believe that this is the case, how could he pull that off, and why wait for 30 years? Is someone else masquerading as Arnold? Possible, though that seems easy, but maybe not. If a Host gains the ability to change their own "loop", because they gained some form of intelligence, that was put in by Arnold years ago, does that host making the change show up as Arnold?

Maeve is one thing that doesn't agree with my theory, and its a big hole. She has seemingly gained AI all on her own, and didn't follow the maze? I am not sure what to think about there.

I just can't stand Will Forte. His stupid voice he uses for every scenario is awful. He doesn't have a serious moment on that show. For that matter, they never do. That could have saved that show for me. A moment of thoughtfulness and introspection would have been amazing.

But everything is an overcooked joke.

I'm with you on this.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I bought a (refurbished) 4th generation Apple TV, and it arrived in the mail yesterday. I mostly bought it so I could watch NCHC.tv without being glued to my 17" laptop screen because the NCHC wouldn't create an app for the 3rd gen box I already have. I might have a hockey addiction.

I just bought a new laptop as a dedicated ILDN machine. We can start a support group.

I've liked People of Earth so far. :)

Berlin Station. The stories have been strong enough so far that I will continue onto E3, but it's not as sexy if you will as The Americans or Homeland. But Berlin is a great locale for a spy thriller series and there's a good ensemble cast.

nchc.tv is on ROKU. You could have saved a few bucks.

Meh. The NCHC site isn't particularly helpful as to what devices they're serving. Apple TV was mentioned in a post on Facebook, but not Roku. I'm not overly worried about it.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Finished S3 of "The Fall" on Netflix.

What a friggin' cheap easy-out ending to the season (and MAYBE series; it's up in the air right now).

There were so many other ways to end this in a better way. It was a really good series for the 1st two seasons, upped the game in this past season...then SURPRISE! SUCKY ENDING! What a letdown.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Plenty of shows make me laugh out loud. Simpsons, South Park, Atlanta, The Good Place, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, Archer, Veep off the top of my head.

It is actually permissible for people to differ on the shows they like.

I started watching The Good Place last night. This show is so much better than I ever expected. Most of it fits into what you'd expect, but they execute it so well and there are a few surprise laughs, though not many.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I tried Speechless and EP1 was pretty good although I have a hard time seeing Kripke without the lisp.

The Good Place is high brow masquerading as middle brow. Those shows are always the best, because they look dumb enough on the surface to be greenlighted, and they reach enough people in the middle to stay on the air while we still get to enjoy something worth watching. Galactica was like that too. So is West World.

I have to think that a lot of the philosophy and religion jokes are missing with people. Either they don't know other religions or they're not going to laugh at their own.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

New series on TNT. They start Tuesday with two episodes but they snuck episode one in on Sunday night as a sneak preview.

Good Behavior

I'm intrigued enough to watch again but it's not what I wanted it to be already so I'm not sure. I'll give it a couple of more episodes before I decide. You pretty much have to watch it to understand it so I won't bother with an explanation or a review. The main character is well acted so if you like well done character acting the first episode is worth it on that alone.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

I realize it was never Masterpiece Theater but Shameless has really gone downhill this season. Unless it turns around I'm not sure I could justify watching S8 if there is one.

To be fair, MT has been a dumpster fire for 20 years.

Re: TV: Give Me That Remote!

Has anybody seen the latest WestWorld? That was a pretty big reveal this week.
