Re: TV: A Succession of Watchmen in The Good Place

I could see why someone would think that. Part of me wanted to say that as well. But then I look at First Contact and compare, it’s substantially the same in terms of overall crafting. Just a different story, better acting, and much better cinematography. It’s everything Trek should be. Or better yet, it’s an evolution.

I like that it’s a serial now. Makes it so much better than typical episodic storytelling.

“Please my friends, choose to live” is a great way to end an episode.

Re: TV: A Succession of Watchmen in The Good Place

Finally got around to the France season of Chef's Table. Absolutely exquisite.

Re: TV: A Succession of Watchmen in The Good Place

I am finishing Season 2 of Ozark...meh. The first season is way better. Hopefully season 3 is as good as the hype.

Meh might actually be a bit harsh...it isnt bad it just isnt that good either. The pacing is all off. The story is kinda of muddled and it has both too much and too little going on depending on the episode. The shock value of certain scenes are good, but after about episode 4 I basically said "yeah this is just ridiculous none of this would ever work". Then they try and make characters seem like they are deeper than they are by having them have weird fetishes and problems that just arent needed. (I am looking at you creepy gay FBI guy) Honestly the season seems almost like filler half the time.

I though season 3 was alright

Re: TV: A Succession of Watchmen in The Good Place

Yes, but keep in mind I can’t remember much of 2.
Some plot lines lagged in 3. Wish I could remember more about 2.

2 is basically...all the people involved are stupid and egotistical and the Cartel is angry with them. (their lawyer is in like every other scene it seems)

If this was actually happening, the Cartel would have killed everyone involved 2 episodes into season 2 :D

3 is better, in my opinion. I'm not sure it's as good as 1, but it's better than 2.

I’ll trust your review, I can’t remember much about one either. Pretty sure my quarantine viewing could be skewing my ratings

Am I the only one that's been underwhelmed by WW Season 3 so far? :(

I'm hoping it is suckering us in. So far it's completely disposable, just another intrigue Lost-like ambiguity show. It's like the intelligence dropped to zero as soon as they got into our world.

I trust Nolan. Even if the usual as-sholes put pressure on to do an accessible final season, I trust him to be able to sneak something special out under their noses.

I was also underwhelmed by their ****e season 2...don’t even care to watch 3 yet.

S2 was a solid 9. It just wasn't the 73 that S1 was.

WW seems to be following the Mr. Robot and Legion trajectory. Incredibly interesting and subtle S1 gets popular so the dopes start moving in. Writers hold out for a while, but there are delays and things begin to slip. The actors become names and probably start to think the piano is composing the music, so things become cliche and at their level.

But in each case we will always have S1.

I hope you're right. I like you enjoyed S2 but I didn't even finish the last episode of S3. I'll give it another try and remain patient.

S3 episode 1 I almost turned off. Wayyyyy too far out there for me and adding all those new characters.

I liked the 2nd episode. Much more my style and back to what I was accustom to with the show.

Haven’t seen 3rd episode yet.
