Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

An Open Letter to NBC:

Dear Network Executives,

I was compelled to write after watching the premiere of the latest NBC "comedy" "Perfect Couples." Frankly, ladies and gentleman, we can do better. In fact, we MUST do better. I don't have the exact statistics available, but I believe that this is your 4,059th attempt to recreate "Friends." While replicating past successes is often a formula for future success, 4,058 prior failures to replicate said success should have been a hint that this was the wrong path.

In an attempt to be productive, I feel I should offer assistance and not just criticism. Every time you think you have a show that will go on the air, run it by me. I am unemployed, deep in debt and very available. Not only would you have fewer complete bombs, I would have something to do all day.

Regards,

AMC

But at least this one has one of Olivia Munn's valiant but failed attempts to act (see: The Daily Show)!

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

So I just finished watching Season 3 of Californication. Given all that had happened throughout that season, you had to see something like that coming. Granted, Karen's reaction was much more than I anticipated based upon prior episodes. Now the only question is how much does everyone know. Did they arrive because of people arguing on the street? Did they arrive about an assault charge at the house prior to that? Or was it that really big thing that's been looming for a very long time now?

Yep. Exactly. Love it. Can't wait to see what turn the show takes.

And then I'm curious as to what Hank takes from it all. He's quite possibly unique in modern television in that while he's not a two-dimensional character, it's hard to say he's growing like a three-dimensional character traditionally does. He's like a 2.5-dimensional character, realizing that he messed up, genuinely remoreseful and means to do better, but then goes back to his self destructive ways. I don't know of another character put together like he is in television.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

So Bob's Burgers will completely and utterly suck, right?
It seems inevitable that it will judging by how much Fox is promoting it, but H. Jon Benjamin can be a funny dude (I'm so psyched for new Archer next month) so I'll at least give it a shot.

The only reason I'm going to watch the first episode is because of Benjamin. I expect the show to be absolutely terrible but I'll give it a shot.

So I read this (including the signature) before I noticed who posted it. My first thought was "why would AMC care if NBC continues to suck? They have Breaking Bad, Mad Men and the Walking Dead... they're set"

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Psych. Finale. Was. AWESOME!!!

:D

OK, so I just watched this episode this morning. And my DVR cut out on what I'm assuming was the last scene. Shawn had just left Juliet in the interrogation room and the camera panned to Lassiter. That's all I got. What happened? Was there a line or two of dialogue? Was there another scene? I hope not.

You didn't miss anything. Lassiter walked out of the viewing room scratching the back of his neck with his coffee mug. That was it.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Yeah that was it, the look on Lassiters face was priceless :D

Gus was in rare form that episode :)

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

What's the deal with Dr. Who? Does the Doctor change every season? Does the chick change every season? I watched the first season of the rebooted series on Sci-Fi, and it was all right but not great. But whenever I hear about the series, it seems like a new Dr., and I get the feeling that whatever happened in the prior season means absolutely nothing to the current one. I can see some benefit to that, being able to just drop a stinker of a storyline with the start of a new season.
